What do y'all think? At what point does McCarron become a value pick? Where in the draft; i.e. - pick number; do you think he will be selected? "His arm isn't elite", but is it adequate?

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...n-can-thrive-on-titans-cardinals-analysts-say
"He has the intelligence, he has the background in what he is doing," Davis said. "He knows that his arm isn't elite, so he makes up for it with anticipation and timing and understanding of routes to know when to get rid of the football."

. . . "I look at a team like the Arizona Cardinals," Jeremiah said. "You've got Carlson Palmer in his mid-30's. Get another year or two out of him and groom AJ McCarron. He doesn't have a big arm, but I don't think you need one in that division. You're playing indoors and on the West Coast a lot. I'd think he'd fit nicely in there and get the last couple of years of Larry Fitzgerald's career.

Just don't see the Cardinals drafting a QB in the first or second round this year. McCarron will likely be taken somewhere in the second round or early third.

If he lasts until the 4th (which I doubt), I think he would be a good fit here.

Anyone think he couldn't beat out Stanton/Lindley?

Doesn't have the strong arm that Arians likes in his qbs. IMO LSU QB Zach Mettenberger fits the profile much better.

The other teams in the Cardinal's division do not run Arian's offense, I doubt Arizona even has him under consideration :)

And we all saw what Arians can do with a big QB, whose last name ends in 'berger'.

He'd definitely beat out Lindley. I don't know that he'd beat out Stanton year 1 just due to Stanton's experience.

not on my shopping list. We need some one with an arm like Palmer and a brain like Peyton from Denver. With the smarts of the QB Joe Montana.

I like him. I like McCarron and Murray over Mettenberger.

I think people often look too much at arm strength (Skelton) and ignore everything else it takes to be a QB (leadership, confidence, intelligence, work ethic), it isn't like he has a noodle arm or is 5' 8".

I remember reading somewhere he had one of the highest pct of deep passes in the NCAA the past few years...not sure if they took in to account YAC or just distance thrown though.

It is an interesting debate. I think we put too much stock into having a strong arm, but I am a little concerned about McCarron on the deep passes. He can hit them, but they tend to be thrown with a large arc, and not a ton of velocity. He really excels in the short and mid-game. He appears to be much better at putting the ball where it needs to be (back shoulder, no hospital balls for receivers). He also reads the defense very well. He identifies the correct matchup and throws to the correct receiver almost every time.

A couple of examples of deep passes by McCarron:

I am not completely sold on Mettenberger, but the guy has the best arm since Jamarcus Russell. A true cannon. I have some concerns on his timing, particularly in the short game. His excellent receiving core really helped him out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXJMGB2einE

Aaron Murray is a ton of fun to watch. He is arm is a little stronger than McCarron, but his game is quite a bit different IMO. Much more of a risk-taker, he likes to gamble and throw into tight spots. Kind of Brett Favre-like in that regard. He will have some of the best throws you have seen, then other throws will get picked off. He is also much shorter than the other two, and kind of slight of build.

I have been thinking for weeks now that he seems to be the forgotten QB that no one ever talks about. He did nothing but win, made throws when he had to, and was a great leader of good players. I think he would be a good match for Cleveland in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I have written Bridgewater off after his disastrous pro day today. That only leaves 1 true 1st round QB in my opinion.

There is only one true first round QB in this here draft? The 2014 NFL Draft is what we are talking about here right? I don't know Floyd, you might need to get your poll back on. There's probably only one QB worth taking with the first pick if that's what you mean, but I guess we aint name dropping so I will refrain. :D

I'd also like leprechauns to drop off a huge pot of gold at my house.

But if that ain't gonna happen you need to prioritize and make decisions.

I like McCarron as well. In fact, the QBs I like are Meziel, Garrapollo & McCarron.

Plus, 9-0 could have some fun with his sexy GF :D

No problem with AJ McCarron.

If the coaches think he is worth the pick, then I would be all for bringing him in.

Don't think B.A. wants a quarterback this year period. He has three he likes already and unless there is someone available who is head and shoulders better than Palmer and Stanton I don't see him wanting one. I also don't see Steve Keim drafting one THIS YEAR over if B.A.'s objections.

Yes, the position has to be addressed at some point. That point is probably next offseason IMO. Now if Zach Mettenberger falls to the fourth round maybe.

The Cardinals have too many immediate pressing needs: tight end, linebackers, defensive backs, even place kicker, to spend one of their six picks on a quarterback this year.

Screw this guy. He's having an event where he charges $25 to take a picture with him and $100 for an autograph. You're suppose to be a professional athlete and have kids look up to you. Not make a quick buck off them. I hope this douche fails in the NFL and a teams defense runs a train on his girlfriend.

I prefer Aaron Murray over all the SEC QB's and think he can be had in the 6th or 7th round, if the Cards do take a QB I hope its not till the 6th or 7th and I hope its Murray, I think coming off the injury and having Palmer for a couple years who had a similar injury would be a great situation for the kid and the Cards.

Any idea what the QB class of 2015 has for NFL candidacy?
