Here is Al Johnsons scotuing report...

"Johnson is a four-year veteran who lost his staring job last year and played as a backup and saw some time as a tight end in Dallas' elephant formation on the goal line. While he has good measurables, he does not play up to his measured size. He does not have a lot of punch or explosiveness into blocks and tends to get rag-dolled and thrown off his base too easily. His initial quickness seems to be his strongest asset, but he is not a natural knee-bender and often loses the advantage he gains by being quick. Against the bigger guys, he seems to have a hard time hunkering down and will get bull-rushed back into the pocket. He might be best suited going to another team as a guard, if that team plays against a lot of odd front defenses. There is enough left in him to be a quality backup who can start and not hurt his team if the need arises."

yeah but pasquarelli says he is one of the sleeper FA's and still has a lot of upside.

Buccaneers | A. Johnson will visit team
Sun, 4 Mar 2007 20:10:53 -0800

Jim Flynn, of PewterReport.com, reports free agent C Al Johnson (Cowboys) will visit with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Hopefully, Johnson blows off the Bucs. He was good enough to start for Parcells, so that's good enough for me.

Leckey/Johnson is definitely an upgrade over Leckey/Stepanovich, IMO.

From the seriousness of Matt's face:

It kind of looks like a first date with Matt wondering if this guy should be allowed to stick his hands between his legs.

Al Johnson

Picks up stunts and blitzes and stays balanced. One gap defenders seldom beat him with their first step.

Not a powerful drive blocker. Lacks the lower body strength to push the pile. Must play with perfect technique against bull rushers.

Johnson is at his best as a pass protector. He does not dominate as a run defender but he plays with good leverage and is fundamentally sound
