I am sure McCoy's broadcasting choice is his own. He is getting up there in age.

He really seemed to cut back shortly after Chick Hearn died. I wonder if his death had an effect on him?

During a game, or just at other random moments in your life? I can imagine some fairly hilarious settings for shouting that out.

OMG that's funny. I'm sure his significant other would just love that one.

I really miss McCoy's game calls. I was about to post "Swisheroo for Two!" but I see that's been posted already.

OOOOOHHHH BROTHER!

Al McCoy is definitely one of the great things about growing up a Suns fan in the valley.

HOLD THE PHONE! HOLD THE PHONE!

Best call ever during a Suns game though wasn't made by McCoy - I think it might have been made by a Celtics announcer or a Network announcer:

Gar Heard turn around shot in the air... AGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!! It's good! It's good! He made it and we go into a third overtime!

The scream - that's all the announcer could muster because it was such a sick shot at the end of such a sick game - classic.

That was Brent Musburger & Rick Barry. You're right, that was one of the best calls ever.

It was after that shot that Al said "Somebody up there is on our side."

Yes, me too, JC. I wondered at first, "Doesn't he realize that everybody sees through it?"

But Al has mellowed over the years, and so have I.

All those years of simulcast made it bothersome to listen to radio-play-by-play-call while watching the Suns on TV and practically eliminated the lighter side of the game.

It took Suns management a long time to spring for the extra bucks to keep radio and TV separate, but it was sure an improvement. And probably took some pressure off Al, too.

Al is an institution in the NBA, especially after the passing of the man he idolized, Chick Hearn of the Lakers.

Oops, 'just saw that Chick was mentioned in a post after the one I responded to. 'Sorry.

That's because TV is on a longer delay than radio. A technical glitch the radio people never seemed to resolve.

This is a joke, right?

But speaking of TV delays, Fox's coverage of the World Series (yes, I'm changing sports) drives me crazy because of its bad synchronization between the video and audio. The play-by-play guy, Joe (?) Buck, is seeing the game about half a second before we are. So, on a strikeout that ends the inning, he belts out "Inning over!" right as the ball is crossing the plate, like he knew in advance that it was going to be a strike. I HATE that. It doesn't make it more dramatic. It's lame and artificial and stupid.
