Interesting. The Big East is favored in all 5 of their bowl games this year (by a whopping 7 or more points in 4 of them). Why do you think that is?

Easy answer - Because in a turn of events that suprises nobody, the Big East is playing East Carolina, Western Michigan, Kansas State, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech. Five schools (the two best of which stem from an awful ACC) that are merely average on their best days. It seems the Big East can't even get over their patsy schedules even in the bowl season.

Again - when the Big East actually consistently plays good teams and beats them out of conference then perhaps I'll give them some respect.

Does WVU beating Georgia in a bowl game last year count? Probably not as you'll just keep redefining the criteria. Louisville clobbered Oregon State last year.

By the way, the SEC does not deserve respect under the criteria you require above.

Since you claim the BE can't compete with the PAC 10, lets see who the PAC 10 is playing and compare:

Michigan, BYU, Hawaii, Fla St, Texas A&M, Missouri. Other than the Rose Bowl of course, that's not exactly murderers row. And the Pac 10 is favored in only 3 of the 6 games.

First off, Michigan, BYU, Missouri, and Texas AtM are better than anybody the Big East has beat this year. Not to mention four of them are BCS conference teams, another is ranked, and the last is playing on their home field. Quite the difference betwen that and playing the average mid-major squads that comprise half of of the Big East's bowl schedule.

Wow, a 5-6 Oregon State squad. Congratulations. And the Georgia game is probably the only solid win of memory for the Big East that came out of conference but it came last year. I could rattle off more solid wins for every major conference from 2005 if you really want me to.

By the way, the SEC does not deserve respect under the criteria you require above.
The SEC may be overrated, but the fact remains that they have a better win than any Big East team by virtue of Tennesee beating Cal. Funny how that win doesn't count in your book.

I'm just going to drop this argument, everyone in the ocuntry who follows college football other than the myopic fans of Big East teams knows their conference is generally inferior when it comes to head-to-head matchups, putting players in the NFL, winning championships. You know, all those pesky things that separate good programs from the rest.

Sounds like someone is riding the USC coattails again. After USC, the Pac-10 has got nothing. period. And there bowl losses will prove that.

Good. Your condescending attitude is annoying anyway. It's always a weak argument to misleadingly knock down others in order to make your team/conference look better.

Including Louisville, WVU, and Rutgers, the Big East has nothing. And the rest of the country excluding their myopic fans know it and the conference's inability year in and year out to beat top level competition prove that. Sorry, but that's a reality that everyone but the members of your little club understand.

I would put UL and WVU up against the overated USC, or any other team i that conference, anyday. How do you get beat by a 6-5 UCLA team? How is Cal after getting shocked by a weak-ass U of A and a borderline average Tennessee team?

Your big wins in the Pac-10 are Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Arkansas. Oh, and guess who beat them? Thats right, USC.

The Pac-10 , top to bottom is as overrated as I have seen in college football outside of USC. Coat tail riders, who struggle to get to 7-8 wins. pathetic

This month will tell, just like very other year. ACC has balance which accounts for a large grouping of 2 and 3 loss teams. Same with SEC. Big 10, Pac 10 and Big 12 play poorly in bowls ,historically, which is a good indicator of actual quality.

Big East is probably performing better than anyone predicted, but their OOC schedules don't help the perception. Mulli asked if South Florida was in the Big East. Yes they are, and are a better than middle of the road team.

Hey Wally, what's the buzz down there on USF for next year? Are they going to get better or are they losing key players and sort of peaking right now?

USF is in another Universe for state of Florida fans. What is hard to believe is that it is the 2nd largest University, based on enrollment , in the state.

Everyone likes their coach, Jim Leavitt, but he may not stay for long. He is looking. Matt Grothe is one helluva Freshman QB.

They have a tough recruiting job competing with FSU, UF and UM for high level recruits. They end up with the ones the big 3 don't get or want.

And I agree with that. My point isnt that the Big east is some super conference but that they are very respectable ahve 4-5 good teams. They have to do a better job of OOS, I agree.
