Alice Cooper has a sports bar here? Alice Cooper, American rock icon? Say it ain't so!

In my search to find a good sports bar I checked out citysearch.com and they list Alice Cooper's as the #1 sports bar in Phoenix. Seems a little incongrous to me. It's not in my neighborhood so it won't work for me, but I guess I'll have to check it out when I make my first trip to a D-back game.

Anyway the search continues in the East Valley. I may just work my way down that list on citysearch for now.

And please don't tell me you have Ozzy Osbourne Day Care Centers here.

Yep he sure does, called "Coopers town" kinda a play on his name and baseball hall of fame. The bar is kinda slanted twords baseball, but they do a kick ass job as far as a good blend of bar and sports.

Great place for sports... TV's everywhere!! Been there a few times.

Went there to get a bite to eat b4 game two of the World Series.
It was a Sunday, and what football game did you want to watch.?!

The Cards were away, so they were on many screens.

They have 3 or 4 LARGE tv's behind the bar.

Bday is next week and the wife is taking me there for dinner. Want a Dbacks game to go with it, but, it's cutting it close with camp!!! ( all the money going into the Camp trip). It might have to wait till we come back!

Get the Onion Strings!!!!!!!

I met Alice Cooper at Orange Tree Golf Resort. We were at the bar eating breakfast, watching ESPN when he struck up a conversation with me. I should've known it was him when I walked in he had on a golf shirt that had Callaway in large letters across his back. Hell of a nice guy.

Not sure if he still is, but he was head of his daughter's school Parent Teacher Association for a long time.

Minix, if you're still having trouble finding a sports bar in the east valley you really can't go wrong with any Famous Sam's. The pastrami is the best I've ever had and they always show every game on Sundays.

Thanks for the tip...I have a Famous Sams on the list. And it really isn't any trouble to have to go through this process of finding a good bar.

I look for:

1) A good seat at the bar.
2) A good Sunday breakfast/buffet
3) A female bartender
4) Good beer prices
5) A place where fans from a team show up regularly
6) Knowledgable regulars

I like to roam the bar and get into the various games and become part of a team fan club when each game gets some action going.

Livin the NFL experience!

try

the stadium club. You won't be disappointed. A bunch of us congregate there for Cards away games. Meets all of your criteria.

Someone has a qoute on their posts from WKRP in Cincinnati regarding throwing chickens out of a plane and expecting them to be able to fly. I think Alice was the inspiration there. During one of his early concerts a chicken wandered onstage and Alice picked it up and threw it to the audience expecting the bird to fly away - he said he didn't know chickens couldn't fly. The audience tore it to pieces. Alice grew up in AZ right? Guess they don't teach that in school there.

I've got an Alice Cooper story for you. A couple years ago, some of my relatives were in town from the midwest. My brother-in-law is a big time head hockey coach, and wanted to go to a Coyotes game, since one of his players was in town playing for the San Jose Sharks.

People have called me thrifty, I suggested we go late, since it was short notice, and we needed 8 tickets. We got to AWA just after the game started, and we cruised the area looking for sellers. A guy walked up with a handfull of tickets that we bought really cheap, and were together. I was a star right then and there.

We go into the arena, we find out that we have seats in a luxury box. On the red line. The box belongs to Alice Cooper. He's in there with his young son. He was great to us.

In the adjacent luxury box, were Gary Barnett, GM for the Coyotes, and yes...the great one, Wayne Gretzky.

Needless to say, the old brother-in-law had a great story to take back to hockey land, thanks to Alice Cooper.

Head hockey?

Sounds like a rough sport!
