I would not want to see the Cardinals to the AFC. I like being an NFC team but it really doesn't matter anymore if that's where the money is. I agree the Chargers are done in San Diego. It's too bad if Oakland moves and poo on St. Louis for losing another NFL franchise.

I thought the likely flip would be Chargers OR Raiders to NFC West and Rams to AFC West (with Denver and KC) - not a bad move for either team...

St. Louis has all the politicians and city/state approvals for a new stadium but my guess is Silent Stan will move the team anyway even if the others vote against him. Pretty much sucks though because here they will use public money but in California it is all private money.

Is it? I had heard they're getting a slew of $$ from the IOC for stadium(s).

Hey, I don't even blame St. Louis for not building Bidwill a stadium the first time around.

I never understood the Rams moving to St Louis in the first place. It only makes sense for them to go back to LA. But San Diego makes sense too. They are close enough.

The NFL is good enough and popular enough. Give St Louis and expansion team.

The Cardinals are not moving any time soon. Just saying because, well I know. The Bidwill family is heavily invested in this valley (in lots of ways). The team would have to sell before it could/would move and its not likely to sell because it, and all the businesses that surround it, is the family business.

I still don't think LA deserves an NFL team regardless of how big the market is

Why? NFL football should be gone from that city forever if the Lambs leave.

Why? Why would the NFL sacrifice the revenue and popularity that it can receive from that city? If the franchise is losing money and a drain on league revenues, then that is fine.

Have not heard the IOC portion of it if any and is that public or private. But what has been reported is no public money.

I have not heard anything about IOC money but if so, that money is private money not public money.

Is everything
I want an NFL team here but if the Rams do go then I do not think this city will ever get another team.

If the current stadium proposal is such a great deal you'd think another owner would want it resulting in St. Louis getting another team.

The only way it works with the proposals is that the Chargers and Raiders will share a stadium.

Chargers will go to the NFC West and either Seattle or the Cardinals will go to the AFC West. My bet is Seattle due to them being an AFC team before.

I haven't read the proposals. Why won't STL and SD going to LA work? No realignment would be necessary.

Because San Diego and the Raiders submitted a joint proposal.

STL is a separate proposal in a separate stadium.

It is only 2 teams or just STL.

I never understood the Rams moving to St Louis in the first place.

Readers Digest version: The owner, Carroll Rosenbloom, died suddenly. His wife (a lounge singer who was on husband #5 or 6 with Rosenbloom) inherited a 70% stake in the team. His children inherited the rest. She knew nothing about football. She made a series of bone-head moves that included firing popular people in the front office...including Rosenbloom's son. (It would be equivalent of firing Michael.) She fired the Rams' version of Keim, who was well-liked, and hired a general manager who quickly alienated the fans. The players disliked her. The fans HATED her.

The team was not playing well and the fans refused to buy tickets for a team owned by Frontiere. (She remarried within a year of Rosenbloom's death.) She was from St Louis and saw the chance to make a PILE of money by moving the team. She wasn't going to stay in Anaheim with people chanting obscenities at her every time she walked onto the field.

There was a prolonged legal battle with So Cal fans and officials trying to keep the team. The courts ruled in favor of the owner. Paul Taglaibue gave her the OK despite pleas from fans. She packed up and left for greener pastures... where the fans didn't hate her. Lucky for her Kurt Warner and the Greatest Show on Turf came along and saved the franchise.

The city of St. Louis made the best proposal to keep the team there.

I see it as:

Oak / SD = 80% likely

No team = 15% likely

STL by itself = 5% likely

I'm trying to figure out why any realignment would be necessary both teams are already in California and what the hell does it matter if they stay where they're at Division and conference wise?

2 teams of the same division cannot share a stadium.

By NFL rules teams in the same division cannot play in the same stadium.

I have been following this story closely as there is a legitimate shot we could be playing in the AFC.

I should preface that by saying I really believe Seattle would be the team to go back to the AFC West, where they played until 2001.
