I couldn't even imagine if I was living in of those cities and being a fan how bad it would suck to see your team leave. Especially St Louis or Oakland. San Diego fans can still at least drive to watch the Chargers if they really wanted to. If the Cardinals ever left (which would never happen), it was be such a downer every NFL season, even when they were really bad

I should preface that by saying I really believe Seattle would be the team to go back to the AFC West, where they played until 2001.

95% of Seahawks fans are unaware of this fact.

I was a Rams fan. It sucked having a bad owner and seeing them moved to St Louis. It sucked hearing the St. Louis fans crow and say what lousy fans we were in So Cal. It sucked seeing Kurt hoist the trophy in another town.

The truth is St Louis would NEVER have had the Rams had Rosenbloom not died. It's time they went back to L.A.

I remember going to a preseason game at Soldiers Field in Chicago in 1960 and my dad yelling "bring the Cardinals back to Chicago". It's always about money and the stakes are bigger now. St. Louis bent over backwards to accommodate the Rams and never did anything to keep the Cardinals. They get what they deserve. Plus the city can't afford the Rams and the LA area deserves a team.

I don't think you can exclude the Rams as a possible team to switch if they were to stay in St Louis. The NFL has the most leverage against the Rams right now (they need NFL money for a new stadium in St Louis) and they have a geographical fit with Kansas City and Denver.

Here is why the Rams are going to try very hard to move to LA.

Somewhere close to about an almost two billion dollars increase in value.

This is what you get when you mercenary a team and it later gets bought out by someone who doesn't care about where they play.

All St Louis had to do was build a friggin stadium and they didn't AZ eventually did, good on them and to them goes the spoils.

Readers Digest version: The owner, Carroll Rosenbloom, died suddenly. His wife (a lounge singer who was on husband #5 or 6 with Rosenbloom) inherited a 70% stake in the team. His children inherited the rest. She knew nothing about football. She made a series of bone-head moves that included firing popular people in the front office...including Rosenbloom's son. (It would be equivalent of firing Michael.) She fired the Rams' version of Keim, who was well-liked, and hired a general manager who quickly alienated the fans. The players disliked her. The fans HATED her.

The team was not playing well and the fans refused to buy tickets for a team owned by Frontiere. (She remarried within a year of Rosenbloom's death.) She was from St Louis and saw the chance to make a PILE of money by moving the team. She wasn't going to stay in Anaheim with people chanting obscenities at her every time she walked onto the field.

There was a prolonged legal battle with So Cal fans and officials trying to keep the team. The courts ruled in favor of the owner. Paul Taglaibue gave her the OK despite pleas from fans. She packed up and left for greener pastures... where the fans didn't hate her. Lucky for her Kurt Warner and the Greatest Show on Turf came along and saved the franchise.

Wasn't that basically the plot of Major League? I think they based that movie off of her.

Yea , when you look at the money math in the article , and we have all heard the slogan "MONEY TALKS AND B--- S--- WALKS", it's easy to picture Stan wanting to move the Rams . When Modell moved (renamed) the Ravens to Baltimore , it was about money .

The Cardinals were mentioned in the Rams relocation application, while trying to make a case that they were suckered into moving to St. Louis.

Rams said:
The Rams were advised “to dot every ‘i’ and cross every ‘t’ before coming to St. Louis” by the lawyer for the NFL Cardinals who was well experienced in relocation and in St. Louis politics.

Rams will be one, I believe...which means I will only need to spend 45 minutes driving to see Cards instead of 360 minutes.

Then they could officially be called the Cleveland-Los Angeles-St. Louis-Los Angeles Rams. :D

It's almost like an NFL project to tug the team back and forth across the nation to try and expand its fanbase or something.

Its amazing that LA could not support one team and now they probably will have two teams playing there. There is not a loyal NFL base there and teams will have trouble selling out. I guess the big TV contracts will pay the bills.

This is big business, and the lifespans of stadiums are not as long as we'd like them to be. In 10 years or so, if the Cards have had a run of losing seasons, the Bidwills decide they need a new stadium to "maximize competitiveness," and St. Louis is without a team, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see some "move the Cards back to St. Louis" stumping.

Not saying I think it'll happen: the Valley as a Super Bowl and college bowl game host is a huge advantage. But "unthinkable" relocations have happened more than once.
