After today's game, and seeing Ray Allen bury us, I started wondering what 5 players would be able to play D'Antoni's game plan better than any in the NBA.

I came up with:

PG: Steve Nash (Obviously)
SG: Ray Allen (Would lead the league in 3PA & 3PM by 1000)
SF: Shawn Marion (Another easy choice)
PF: Andrei Kirilenko (Was built for this system)
C: Amare Stoudemire (Would either have really low stats, or really high)

Can't be bothered writing a bench, but if I did, Kobe would be 12th Man, and come on only if we were down by 3 or less

For a bench I’d go with:

Bibby
Arenes
J. Richardson
R. Lewis
R. Wallace

Realistic team financially, with future earnings kept in mind.

PG: Steve Nash - $10
SG: Raja Bell - $5
SF: Shane Battier - $5
PF: Amare Stoudemire - $12
C: Dwight Howard - $6

Boris Diaw - $7
Chris Paul - $4
Bruce Bowen - $3
DeSagana Diop - $2
Eddie House - $2
Matt Bonner - $2
Trevor Ariza - $2
Brian Cook - $1

Can run, but also play defense! If Amare's not going to return strong, scratch that and put Marion in there. ;) In four years, Paul slowly takes more and more responsibility from Nash, allowing Steve to slow down his career in a John Stockton manner. I figured Diaw would get Manu Ginobili type money down the road, so I put him at $7. Howard isn't extended for another 3 years.
