Well since it's beginning to look like the debate about the 5 greatest draft picks is basically turning out to be the 5 greatest players in Card hisory.....Who are the best players the Cards ever signed through free agency or acquired through trade?

I gotta work on this one myself a little yet.

J.T. Smith

This team has never really been active in free-agency but for better or worse we might have given too much for him from the Jets but Rob Moore's stats do speak for themselves in comparison to other Cardinal WRs. It's hard to be too critical when the surrounding players never put any one individual in a successful situation. In retospective, I think J.T. Smith would be my choice over Rob Moore. The chiefs gave up on him and part of it had to do with age but he really came throug

are we not allowed to disagree with you on this one also? If so - I will refrain from posting for fear of being told to leave and being called a jackass.

Even though we have nothing to show for the trade.... The trade with SD for their draft picks. Would be nice to still have Boston. :(

The Rob Moore trade was productive for a little while, but we could play coulda woulda shoulda all day with players like Sapp and Derrick Brooks on the board. THOSE are all-time great draft pick types. The '95 draft resulted (pretty much) in a Superbowl for the Bucs. Bastards.

I can't think of any trades or free agent acquisitions worth mentioning.

The Adrian Murrell trade was a pretty good one. He rushed for 1000 yds during the 98 playoff season and had good games in both playoff games.

We gave up only one draft pick (3rd or 4th round) which the "genius" Bill Parcells used on the most surefire bets in the draft, Nebraska football players. That player? Scott Frost who was such a great college QB he was promptly moved to safety in the pros never to be heard from again. :D

I agree.
Once he learned how to run the option, he was a great college QB.

Just ask the mighty mighty SEC Champ Tennessee Vols!!
BBAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Somewhere in that picture is Al Wilson and Leonard Little looking helpless against a bunch of guys that grew up playing eight man football two ways in buzzing metropolises like Cozad and Grand Island, NE.

I think Ahman Green just scored again off of a FEARLESS option by Frost. 202 rushing yards against a D loaded with future NFL stars. Amazing ain't it?

This could go on for days...

Scott Frost ran the unbalanced two back, one tight end set allllll night long against Tennessee.
The 41 sprint option had far superior atheletes on Tennessee's side scratching plays in the dirt by half time.

Was the 1995 Husker squad the Best College Football Team Ever?

The fans speak, and say "Yep."

Just because Nebraska fans have nothing else to do with their pitiful lives does not make it a fact :)

Ah, umm, Section? You're getting a little off topic...so unless you're going to call cheesebeef a jackass, please get back to business...

The Cardinals greatest trade or free agent pick up would have to be (in my opinion):

Emmitt Smith!

The possitive effects of this tranaction won't really be noticed till next year, but they will last for a long time.

Oh ya, hey cheesebeef...jackass!

Oh what the hell, let's just do it now.

The first play of the Colorado game in 1995 is the only time I've ever seen the Huskers use the "Wide OzBone" variation where the tight ends are replaced by split ends.
The Buffaloes still weren't sure where to line up as Ahman Green streaked down the sideline to make it 6-0 Huskers.

Guess Samoan War Drums can only do so much for your Defense...

Yeah - cheesebeef - you jackass! Oh, wait a second . . .

By the way - i have just come to the realization why 11 disses on Suggs - and while I kinda concur with his skepticism, my fears aren't related to his - He has no fears - he hates Suggs and the reason being - drum roll please - Suggs is a Devil - 11 YOU STILL HASN'T GOTTEN OVER THE BEATING ASU GAVE YOUR OH SO GLORIOUS HUSKERS BACK IN 1997 TO END THE RED REIGN OF TERROR THAT WAS NEBRASKA! I mean they've won .5 national championships since then, but we all know that fateful night in SDS that the big red was finally dead. 11 - I challenge thee to a consumption duel - Yuma - ETHER, HORSE TRANQUILIZERS, MOONSHINE, URINE AND STD LADEN IRISH MIDGET HOOKERS - AND WE'LL SEE WHO COMES OUT ALIVE!!!!!!!

The best team in ASU's history beat one of the worst Husker teams in twenty years by nineteen whopping points.

Damn, if Plummer could throw something besides that little slant to the tight end, the score could have been way worse...

Congratulations.

Nobody can run the Husker option in year one at QB.

THIS is the problem.
It's the problem with ASU football, and it's the problem with the Cardinals.

These little victories, while fun at the moment, mean absolutely jack squat. The idea is to win it all. All of it. The whole damn thing.

Drafting Suggs is going to be a fun little experiment in getting "competitive" next year. He's our "best chance to win next year." Win what? 9-7 is not winning. 9-7 is mediocre. Mediocrity sucks.

ASU's win over Nebraska will probably live about five more years until they do something else of some significance.
87 Rose Bowl (I have never seen a more insignificant game re-marketed so brutally often, again and again and again...)
97 Rose Bowl (See 1987 Rose Bowl)
What will 2007 bring? Who know... Who cares.

NU romped on ASU 77-28 the year before, who friggin cares? Rivalries are made in the games that count. That's why ASU doesn't have any rivals, and it's why the Cardinals don't have any rivals.

45 Friggin thousand students, from all over the country. A school that sends quality prospects to the NFL every year. And they Can't Accomplish Crap. It's pathetic.
I don't like it either. It's frustrating.
