Based on the award-winning novel, Altered Carbon takes place in a future where the human mind can now be digitized and downloaded into a "cortical stack" and placed into new bodies, called sleeves. The series follows Envoy soldier Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman), who is brought back to life centuries later to investigate the attempted murder of Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy), the wealthiest man on Earth. As the investigation progresses, Kovacs comes to learn that his past isn’t nearly as buried as he thought. The series debuts exclusively on Netflix February 2nd, 2018.

Saw the first episode. I am digging the concept, but I really don't like the lead actor and am concerned the show will be a bit thin on script.

Started watching the first episode. Turned it off to watch Black Mirror. I'll jump back into it after wrapping up Black Mirror.

 There's no wrapping up involved in Black Mirror; they're unconnected mini-stories. I saw one, and loved it, but it didn't make me rush right into the next episode for this very reason.

Altered Carbon could have been so, so much better. That said, I loved it at first. I didn't have issues with the lead actor, though I can see where some might have, and the supporting cast is solid. I also think the writing was strong early, with a heavy tech-noir vibe. Loved the world, the mythology, the visuals, and all that jazz. Then, a little over halfway through, I think it was...the writers went loopy. It's like they congregated, brainstormed to come up with the worst possible ideas, and ran with them. Just, like...epic levels of writing suck. They also deus-ed the eff out of that old machina, let me tell you.

Enjoyable, for the most part, but it nosedived in quality. I hope they revisit the world and characters.

I finished the series last night. it was worthy of watching... but about halfway through they slipped into "weekly cop drama"... then they jumped over to far out sci-fi..

is there going to be another season or was it a one season show? Hard to tell, the story wrapped, and dude has to give up his sleeve...so...??

would be interesting if they ran a different "star" every season... the universe has lots of potential.

I love Black Mirror and I actually wanted to rush into the next episode to see what else can be twisted. Lol.

Loved this show. The FX for a TV show were phenomenal. I can’t wait for season 2.

I really liked it to. Did have an over the top reason for it all with the connection with the main character but it was good.

Binge watched this two weeks ago with my wife. She loved it, I found it to be meh. The main actor is not very good and the writing was weak, especially the final few episodes. I also found the finale unbearable due to the constant monologing (BIM?). 6.5/10

I did enjoy the use of beautiful women, however.

I agree about the ending episodes. Weak sauce.

Can’t believe I missed this. Just finished watching it. Loved it. Can’t wait for season two.

Some new actors next season. Anthony Mackie takes over the role of Kovacs.

Just finished season two. Definitely a let down. I’m hoping there’s a season three and it improves but Netflix hasn’t said they’re renewing it yet.

I found season 2 quite good. Not as good as the 1st, but enjoyable. Then again, the last few episodes WERE better than the mustache-twirling abominations that were the last few episodes of season 1.

Wow I’m surprised. I thought season 2 sucked. And I like the cast. And I loved season 1.

I was on board until I hit the halfway point you mentioned above. I thought they were wrapping up the season and then it continued with weird episode after weird episode.

No interest in season 2.

It’s been canceled. Too bad. Season two was terrible but I thought it still had promise. Maybe Amazon will pick it up? They did well with The Expanse.
