He's mentioned in insider today..

Reece Gaines had some nice moments in his first game and showed a real knack for running the point. He ended with just five assists, but several of them bordered on the spectacular. Keith Bogans looked like he'll be able to make the Magic. Rookie Zaur Pachulia had a terrible shooting night, but showed nice athleticism running the floor for a big man. Third year forward Alton Ford looked like he could find a role in Orlando banging in the paint. And undrafted rookie Britton Johnsen stole the show when he dunked over James.

You could make an argument that all four players look good enough to make the Magic's roster. But can the Magic really handle four rookies next season?

Currently the team has seven players under contract. Gaines and Bogans will make the team for sure. Pachulia will as well if he doesn't decide to return to Turkey for another year of seasoning. That takes you to 10. The Magic will add at least two more veterans to their roster. They are in the process of wooing Juwan Howard, P.J. Brown, Speedy Claxton and Antonio Daniels. They might be able to add both if the league grants them a medical exception for Grant Hill. That takes them to 12. They're also interested in adding a veteran point guard to the roster. They've had their eye on the Pistons' Chuky Atkins for a while and may be able to swing a trade down the road. In other words, it's tough to see how either Ford or Johnsen fit.

I wasn't surprised that he won't be back next season. He never played last year and we just added Zarko so the writing was on the wall. I think Orlando could be a good place for him to get some playing time because they don't have much of an inside presence.

That really sucks! And props for finding a 15 year old thread to reply to. Talk about efficient! ;)
Feel bad for his family. That is too young.

15 years? Good grief. Some of us need to get a life. Chap might need a new pic.

Luckily it consisted of simply using the “Search” function.

I remember when Ford was on the team, but I don’t remember anything about his play.

The most noteworthy aspect of his play was that he would head for the rim whenever he had a remote chance - and the more people he bowled over on the way the better he liked it. Were not for the zebra's whistling him for offensive fouls all the time, he might have been a passable player. I quite liked him.

Yeah we did. Those high hopes came directly from Kenny Smith, who raved about him during the draft broadcast. It was just before the NBA world jumped on the length over height bandwagon. Had anyone taken the time to look at Ford's arm length, they would have known he wasn't going to be effective down low.

RIP Alton.

RIP... add him to the list of former Suns who passed away at too young of an age: Mo Lucas, Wayman Tisdale, Armon Gilliam. Coincidentally and curiously, all power forwards.
