This board becomes more bitchy with each topic added. What Amare said isn't really that big of a deal given his history. Haven't we all learned by now to just take Amare's comments with a grain of salt and move on?

I think the Suns will regret the day they trade Amare because they're not getting much in return based on the previous deals that have been discussed over the past 6 months.

Here's hoping Amare will recover from the eye injury, and have a great year for us.

Amare is what he does, not what he says.

If That is the standard against which you judge Amare... then, you must be a frustrated fan. So, you are in the same boat as the rest of us.

I couldn't care less what Amare says - I am more frustrated that he CONTINUES to talk and then plays the same 'offensive only' style of play that doesn't and will never deliver 'championship' or 'HOF' in the near future. He has never really had a good development coach his entire life. No Father (and his mother is a mess), never stayed in one High School long enough, no college, no pro-development NBA coach either... He is a boat sailing the high seas without a rudder.

I don't care what Amare says for the most part. We should all know Amare likes to talk. The only thing I care about is what Amare does on the court. To me that does more talking then anything that comes out of his mouth.

I think we're just getting tired of mostly talk and not as much walk for what he says he is.

We might regret it, but we also might be stuck with a 20mil+ a year rehabbing micro patient. We are less than 2 months from the start of the "5-6 Year" time frame of possibly needing another operation. It would be pretty Risky to lock him up long term.

Here's hoping Amare will recover from the eye injury, and have a great year for us.

Agreed!

I do have concerns with his knees, but I think given the offers we've been given, I'd almost rather take the chance on him given his age and past production.

BTW, I've always wanted to ask you. Are you originally from Boise? I was born and raised there.

Talk about Narcissistic comments.
It is sad when i see fans bitching about how we are going to get stuck with a crippled Amare. It is not like he hurt his knee doing crazy stunts or indulging in stupid hobbies. The same goes for his eye. The injuries were sustained while he was doing what he signed up to do; playing basketball. And it's not like he sustained the injury on another team and we signed him.
If the FO gets a good offer for him; Good, but not because we think he is damaged goods and until then we need to remember we are talking about a human being here, not a disposable commodity.

I don't know, do big-time superstar athletes generally refer to themselves as such?

bigtime, bigshot, famous, celebrity. We can go on with words that pretty much means the same thing.
You sure no "bigtime" athlete has referred to him or herself as such?

He is damaged goods! Microfracture creates a patch. It does not solve any underlying problems. His knee is structurally not the same as the knee of a healthy person. That is a medical fact.

I don't understand the "human being" argument. Stoudemire wants to get paid $20 million per year to do a job. If his prospective employer feels that he is not a good candidate to deliver that level of performance, they shouldn't hire him. Any "human being" has to face the reality of getting turned down for a job.

All the ego problems aside - who's gonna be the player even close to be our star in the near future?

Think about it - when Nash and Hill will be gone, who besides Barbosa is even close to be a player the whole league is aware about?

Louie? Nice addition, great hustler but no big time player
Dudley? Same for him
Lopez? Umm, don't think so

Who will be the "face" of our team? Or are we gonna end up beeing a mediocre team with just some average players and no real star?

IMO Stat and Barbosa should be the 2 players we should keep (if healthy) because we don't have any players of this caliber coming in the near future.

Yep. I was born here as well. Back in Boise now after living in Memphis from 2003-2007. At least i got some suns ball in during that time.

So are you a Boise State fan then? :D

I was basing my comments off the initial projections of his injury which were in 5-6 years he could need another operation. The nature of what microfracture is and the nature of amares game (Plenty of jumping and aggressive moves) makes me worry a bit, especially with the estimated window of re-operation taking place over THIS season.

At the end of my post, I agreed that my preferred choice would be a healthy Amare long term. I still feel that way, but am a little wary considering he wants an extension right around the same time he might need another operation.

If any of us were running the Suns, it would be at least worth a second look by doctors and anyone else who might be able to really tell how his knees are. Especially with our highest paid player.

I can already see the scenario.

1. After much posturing, the Suns will sign Stoudemire to a big extension next summer.

2. Within a month, Stoudemire will announce that he needs microfracture again.

3. Some people on this board will be in anguish over the front office having made another franchise-crippling blunder.

4. Others will say, "This is terrible luck, but there's no way anyone could have forseen it. What should the Suns have done, lose Stoudemire for nothing?"

You, my friend, are a prophet! That is exactly what will happen.

It'll be the kid we get high in the draft after tanking a season.

I am, but the Boise State I remember was from the Big Sky. I remember listening to them on the radio play Youngstown St or Marshall (can't remember which one) for the division 2 title in the early 90's. I remember the stadium before it was re-done. Great to see how far they've come and it was so sweet to be at the Fiesta Bowl when they beat OU.

I'm actually heading up there in about 2 weeks. Can't wait.

Did Michael Jordan ever say anything so narcissistic?

Hey Amare, there's no "I" in . . . oh, never mind. He'll never understand.

Yes, Jordan with his "supporting cast" remarks was not only narcissistic but disrespectful to his teammates. But, it was a comment that was made in an unguarded moment and I am sure he regretted it. I am sure alot of athletes THINK this way, Amare just does not have the wisdom to keep it to himself.
