Don't go overboard slin. James and Anthony both did a better job passing the ball around than anyone else on the floor last night

James took 10 3s, 7 in the first half or so. That isn't sad? In an allstar game?

Maybe that was ok if he nailed all of them until he missed one.

Check out what ESPN's frontpage says...

"Forget the score. Applaud the MVP (Amare Stoudamire) if you want. Friday's Rookie challenge belonged to LeBron and Carmello. Still it is no consolation for being snubbed Sunday."

And a phote of Lebron and Melo.

:computer:

At least David Stern and Charles Barkley looked like they didn't like the overexposure of Lebron and Melo.

Please don't misunderstand me. I'm as tired as in one of the LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony overhype. I think James is incredible, but it's just too much. I don't think Jim Gray or Cheryl Miller have talked to anybody this season without asking them about James.

I think Anthony is very overrated. I mean he's a very nice player, but people who think he should have been an all-star are just off their rockers. I love slin's comparison to Antwawn Jamison. There are some obvious differences (age, slight difference in size, and contract). Looking at his statistics I did notice something else that's impressive about Anthony though. He has increased his shooting percentage every month this season. In January he shot 44.9% and so far in February he is shooting 51.6% from the field.

BTW check out the front page of NBA.com. It has a big picture of Amare Stoudemire holding the trophy from last night.

The rookies had no answer for Stoudemire or Boozer last night.

In the second half Amare was scoring at will. At the end it looked like his teammates were looking for him.

Yes the hype of "'Bron and 'Melo" is a bit extreme but it is not suprising, or anything new. I suggest everyone get used to it or go find a cave someplace to save your sanity.

The rookie duo of James and Anthony was pretty spactacular and entertaining last night.

I thought it was pretty funny when Anthony dunked so hard he fell down. :p

It sounded pretty ******** when Dwayne Wade does a huge windmill dunk and they start talking about Lebron's hops instead of giving Wade some exposure.

Yeah NBA.com is more neutral than ESPN. But even they are biased.
Look at their gallery before the game. All Lebron, Carmelo pictures and one with Yao and Lebron and one with Lebron, Yao and Carmelo.

Amare only got one picture with Yao and that wasn't like those set up pictures.

I hope this will make Amare work even harder.

I think Lebron can be great and Melo can be as good as Marion. But who says Lebron isn't just a TMac who puts up huge stats without making his team win?
I am sure the Cavs would be the worst team in the league by far if it wasn't for Boozer.

Great players have to be complete players and that means playing great defense.

Lebron will have to be a great defender if he wants to live up to the hype and help his team win.

First of all, I was also thinking about how Amare Stoudemire is taking all of this exposure to LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. I also hope he uses it as motivation to get better.

OK, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Tracy McGrady other than his frequently aching back. Take a look at the team he has been playing with over the last several seasons. They pretty much suck... even in the Eastern conference. You put McGrady on a team with Shaquille O'Neal, Tim Duncan, etc. and they are competing for and probably winning championships. You can only ask him to do so much with that Orlando team. He is no Shareef Abdur-Rahim. I think McGrady is the fourth best player in the NBA behind Tim Duncan, Shaq, and Kevin Garnett.

I don't think you can win in the NBA without a great big man, at least not anymore.

True Michael Jordan etc but that was almost 10 years ago, that league was totally different and Michael Jordan had the FG% of today's big men.

ESPN Motion

2 Lebron highlights and only talking about him shining and scoring 33 points. Nothing about Amare or the Game.

ESPN is such a piece of crap.

I hope Lebron isn't in the dunk contest. I hate what drama he had to make about entering first of all and the judges will give him 50 for anything anyway and they will talk about Lebron the whole time.

Heck if Lebron was in the 3pt-shootout they would be talkking about Lebron winning that contest 10 times in a row in the near future.

melo and bron are also the best 2 rookies this year. same thing.

to be honest, no one tried that game. so individual accomplishments dont mean too much.

"Me and Carmelo are some of the biggest names in this league so far this year," James says of the chance to play with Anthony. "We're going to come out and play our hardest

Funny quote by James before the game, huh?

And Melo came out and guaranteed victory.

It sure would have meant something if Lebron had more points than Amare or won MVP.
The media would be all over it.

you're right... the game has always been on sat. Last year it was in the afternoon. As a result, i missed the game, and i'm kind of pissed about it... especially since i missed amare's mvp performance.

I still gotta catch the highlights... did Amare have any spectacular dunks?

Actually, the league moved it to Friday night prime time because of the Lebron-Melo duo. It was a really big deal, the arena sold out I guess (that usually doesnt happen for this game)

There was an article on ESPN about the time change last night.

Some of the dunks by Lebron and Wade reminded me why I want a guy like Iguodala on the Suns.

Easily on the same level athletically. We have a great power dunker if not he best but it would also be nice to have a guard go in there and dunk on people and do windmills etc.
Shawn Marion isn't doing it that's kinda sad he could be one of the greatest dunkers of all time if he wanted.

Or Kobe, the comination of their dunks with Amares power inside would get people out of their seats every game.

Just remember that a winning team is going to get people to buy the seats in the first place. I'm not opposed to drafting Iguodala later in the draft, but I don't think I would take him in the lottery.

No but with the Knicks pick definately.

Though I am a little biased , I would just love the Suns to have a Carter, Richardson, James, Davis, Mason like dunker who cuts to the basket and dunks on people at the 2.

That's why I am hoping for James White to finally explode and enter the draft.

Man I would pay money for that kid to represent the Suns in the dunk contest and just dunk with a Suns jersey on.

Michael Finley was the last real dunker we had at the 1,2,3 and I am definately missing the times he would get in there and dunk on Jason Richardson.

Joe johnson HAS the talent to do this. That dunk over Yao was amazing. He just doesn't have the mentality to do it! Someone needs to give Joe a confidence, no, an arrogance lesson!! I tell you, the talent he has, Joe could take half the league's defenders off the dribble since they have to respect his jumper, he just doesn't do it!! It's frustrating because JJ is just barely scraping his potential!! :D
