no, im saying its not necessary to argue this because sarver will find a way to save his money. do you really think sarver is a good owner? give me a break.

That wasn't the question. It was an IF. That is all they are trying to say. They are asking hypothetically.

IMHO if he keeps this team as is, or tries to improve it (not sure it can be improved upon) with the peices we have, I still think the damage is already done. However I will give him the benefit of trying to keep the team the best possible at this moment.

You can't improve on this team without blowing up key peices, and I'd like to try and get some young players around Amare, been saying that for a while now. I think the team would most improve if we trade Shaq and Nash while they still have value. Get a young PG who may develop, some depth with raw players in other positions and expiring contracts.

Then go for a defensive big and a good veteran guard, maybe a Joe Johnson homecoming in 2010 with money freed up.

We put the entire team on Amare next year and then give him another superstar fro 2010, and this team will be explosive. Amare still doesn't knoiw what it is to carry a team. The Suns have always relied heavily on Nash, Shaq, Marion and Johnson.

Give Amare a year with Barbosa and other young guards running the point and Amundson/Robin/New Draft young bigs next to him and watch him develop.

Extend Amare, guarantee him Dwayne Wade or Johnson.

PG- Young good guard
SG- Joe Johnson who can run point, opens the paint, hits clutch shots
SF- Richardson
PF- Amare
C- Young Big

Those three with solid role players next to them would be a great core.

Thing is we have to trade Nash and Shaq NOW. Most value and to give Amare teh reigns for a season and a half by himself to get the EXP.

that doesn't change anything about my post. get over yourself.

You're a funny guy. My whole question was dependent on the idea that Shaq or Amare wouldn't be traded. Why respond to the question if you're not even going to answer it?

Nobody expects Gentry to coach the team like D'Antoni, but let's face it: D'Antoni didn't win jack here in Phoenix. His teams were a fun regular season spectacle, but I was sick of getting close and not winning. Not to say this is any better (right now it isn't), but I'll never agree with all you people putting the man on a pedestal. For all the stuff you guys say about him, I'm surprised you aren't pushing for a statue of the man in front of the arena.

Also you fail to factor the Suns may have been just a mediocre team without DA. I guess two WCFs appearances in only four full seasons doesn't mean much to you.

Well I hope you enjoy life without DA.

Or you fail to factor in with a better coach this team could have gone all the way. Close only counts in horse shoes. The measure of ones success is if he got the job done (won a title). D'Antoni clearly did not.

The saying, "the best defense is a good offense" came from somewhere.

It came from some moron who never won a NBA title is my guess.

It rings true if a team does not have the right players to play consistent defense. I do think the Suns can play brief stretches of good defense. Here's hoping Gentry can slide in a few defensive stops along the way especially during critical parts of the game.

It never rings true if at the end of the day you didn't play good enough defense to win a ring.

Hence the problem. Shaq does not carry much value because of age and contract. No team is going to trade for Nash unless they think Nash can put them over the top. If there is a team that is close to winning a title, they are not going to gut their team for Nash and give us good talent in return. If you trade Nash or Shaq it's probably for cap space only.

Amare has the most trade value bar none and the only player that is going to bring back good talent in return.

The Suns have always relied heavily on Nash, Shaq, Marion and Johnson.

You forgetting about our main weapon in Amare? Especially when he was our center? Amare has led the team in shots per game for several seasons. I would say Amare has been heavily relied on as well.

Another Super Star is not going to help Amare play defense or rebound up to his potential. If Amare can't get it done with a MVP point guard, I would say chances are slim he will get it done with another Super Star. Besides, how exactly does this team get a Super Star?

Give Amare a year with Barbosa and other young guards running the point and Amundson/Robin/New Draft young bigs next to him and watch him develop.

Develop into what? A better offensive player? Great...just what we need out of Amare.

Extend Amare, guarantee him Dwayne Wade or Johnson.

How? JJ and DWade can get up to 30 million dollars more if they resign with their teams versus jump ship. Neither one of those guys is going to leave money on the table IMO. Even if they did, how do you convince them to sign with a team viewed around the NBA as being in disarray?

Thing is we have to trade Nash and Shaq NOW.

If we are going to blow up this team then I agree. However, you also must trade Amare now because Shaq and Nash don't have much value anymore. If this team is going to stock up on talent Amare must go.

If we do build around Amare, I hope to heaven that this team is deep on defense at the 1, 2, 3 and 5 positions. Amare will never be a defensive all star in this league.
