Last night he played in 3 games with a 10-second shot clock, and was a starter in Game #3. That doesn't tell me he's 2-3 months away.

Clearly, Amare is just being very cautious, if he feels any stiffness he is going to hold back a bit and not overextend himself, maybe he felt stiffness before going out and favoring one leg over another, which led to further injury. I think Amare realizes the only person who really has his best interest in mind is him, and he needs to push back a bit when he is having a stiff day.

This is 90% MENTAL, they've had that right knee checked/MRI'd a thousand times, many of them at his request, and nothing comes up.

uh, isn't that what I said?

I hope that he recovers and doesn't become another Penny. (Gasp.)

It sounds mostly mental, so hopefully once he faces real competition the killer instinct will kick in.

I dont know if its mental on Amares part or the fans wanting so hard to believe he's going to be alright.

I choose the latter...

I'm wondering if anybody here knows how many players in the NBA experience stiffness on their knees from time to time during practice/games? Obviously it becomes a bigger news with a guy that already had major surgery on the other knee.

Welcome aboard.

Anything about Amare is big news. If it wasn't his knees, it would be something else.

Shawn Marion suffers knee stiffness at the end of every game.

I read this as Mike D'Antoni thinks it could be 2-3 months before Amare Stoudemire is 100%. Most of us probably didn't expect it even that soon anyways.

That's why I asked. Stiffness is not an uncommon occurrence in the NBA so why don't people try to calm down about Amare before proclaiming that he needs microfracture on the other knee and that his carrer could be potentially over. He's taking the precaution of checking the knee to make sure everything is okay. The doctors have assured him that it's fine, but he needs to realize it and push through it.

As football in Arizona generally stinks this year, us fans need something to talk about... and yes, even worry about. :)

Did anyone notice on the the video of the scrimmage on suns.com that Amare's shoes looked goofy? It almost looked like he had ankle weights on, because they looked big and bulky around the ankles. Might he wear something like this? Or does he just wear ugly shoes?

It was fun to watch the video. Bring on the season....
