per Gambo while they were talking with Wilboun from the Wash Post and PTI:

Amare will start training with Robin Pound, the old suns trainer who helped Jason Kidd come back from microfracture surgery

Robin Pound is the guy that Chambers smacked and had somewhat of a fight with. I always wondered why........then he left about a year later.

Anybody know about this?

This is good news and bad news. Good news that he is with an experienced trainer dealing with that situation.

However, it's also bad news because I think this means that Amare is not progressing the way they had hoped. I don't think that part of it is a good sign at all. Usually the only time you switch trainers is when your not getting good results.

I hope all is going well but since Amare dropping off team USA and now this, I am more worried about Amare making it back 100% then I ever have been.

chap - do you really wonder why people dislike you and jump on your back so much? Honestly, why even post the above besides antagonizing someone? Do you not think there is any validity to what Steeldog's saying? Or are you trying to just pick a fight and derail the thread because any objective observer would raise an eyebrow at someone switching therapists in the middle or even "the end"of a rehab period, don't you think?

Amare didn't switch trainers. He added to his team of trainers. Aaron Nelson is still the team trainer. Robin Pound was never the Suns trainer, he was their strength and conditioning coach - who worked along side the Suns old trainer - Joe Proski.

Robin Pound is there to assist in Amare's rehab. Not take it over. Also, Pound was brought in on a trial basis - and depending how it works out he will become full time for Amare.

I think he's probably frustrated with all the conclusions people jump to on this board on a fairly consistent basis. Oh wait...or is that me?

Gee, are you telling me the sky ISN'T falling? :D

I think Brad Miller following the team USA tryouts had it right when he said that Amare at 80% is still one of the best power forwards in the NBA. The reports were that he was looking very good and this was not while playing against a bunch of summer league dregs.

People jump on my back so much because I have no qualms about posting an alternate opinion. And yes, I admit, sometimes I come across as much more harsh than I intend, but why does anyone care? I never come out and call you or anyone else idiots or morons or any derogatory names, and I have rarely come out and attacked people themselves. You might disagree, but coming from you, I don't put much stock in it. I'm sorry, but you're a much bigger attacker than I am.

So let me get this straight: I get slammed in one thread for not having a sense of humor, and then I get slammed in this thread for having one? That's rich.

I thought the picture Chap posted was funny. We tend to be pretty passionate about the Suns and everything related to them, and sometimes it's over the top with our reactions to news reports, injuries, ect.

We all love the Suns (With the exception of a few Mavs, Spurs and Laker Trolls) but we have different opinions and ways of looking at situations. Imagine if everyone thought like Chap or Cheese, or any of the other posters:)The board wouldn't be like it is without different opinions and outlooks. For example, if I need stats on ANYTHING, I wait for a George Obrien post:)

It will be nice when we have games and the season to talk about! The offseason is pretty slow.

Injuries are a definate concern. I wonder how KT, Marion and Amare are doing.

Thanks for posting that grahamcracker... I read the report of the trainer change about the same way Steeldog did but, assuming you've got the story right, it sounds much less foreboding. The baffling thing is that the Suns didn't describe the change something like the way you did.

I got a good chuckle out of Chaplin's blue sign - the sentiment was pure Chaplin, of course, being a major distortion of the tone of Steeldog's comment.

I am still worried about it, don't get me wrong. They are brining in more help for a reason, but at least it isn't that the Suns trainers are failing.

Did the Suns actually ever mention something? The only report I saw was this one from Gambo. Robin actually has ties to Synergy, so the information I have came from him (and was given to me second hand). Also, it was Amare that hired him - not the Suns. The Suns did sign off on it though.

I only read what was here so crediting the Suns with saying anything was a stretch on my part.

I have no issues with him hiring someone for help. I just think that means something is not going right or not going to schedule. If everything was fine then there would be no reason to bring in a new guy.

We will know in a few short weeks wither way.

Rather than the sky falling, I like to think of it as the Earth rising. :koolaid:

We don't know how long this has been in the works. This decision by Amare may not have been a recent one.
