I just watched this movie and wow, is it very good (and really makes you angry). It's not just based on a true story, they actually use the court transcripts from the trial. So much for the "good old days".

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0802948/

Based on a true story that shocked the nation in 1965, the film recounts one of the most shocking crimes ever committed against a single victim. Sylvia and Jennie Fae Likens, the two daughters of traveling carnival workers are left for an extended stay at the Indianapolis home of single mother Gertrude Baniszewski and her seven children. Times are tough, and Gertrude's financial needs cause her to make this arrangement before realizing how the burden will push her unstable nature to a breaking point. What transpires in the next three months is both riveting and horrific.

An excellent, excellent movie. Incredible and gut-wrenching.

Take the time to watch it. So many feelings at the end.

Yeah, knowing that it was a true story just about made me want to puke. It's tough to reconcile the feelings this movie evokes.

Recently watched it. Sheesh, what a stomach turner. I don't think there's anything more terrifying than groupthink gone wrong. It was extremely difficult to watch those scenes with the neighborhood kids.

I read that the actual events were much worse than what was shown in the film. If this wasn't based on true events, it would have been too disturbing to believe.

Oof, don't think I will be watching this one.

What's "oof"? This is a good movie Mulli, if you can stomach it.

I hope that Gertrude Baniszewski suffered intolerable pain for a long time before she died.

Join. A person can read about the case if they are interested, but why would someone want to watch a two hour re-enactment of it? JMO.

Because someone created a thread about it, silly Renz.
