On Boldin's catch & run for 38 yards to the 1 yard line. It was a hot read for Boldin. His cover blitzed. Boldin was open as soon as he crossed the LOS, but instead of hitting Boldin then, Warner waited till the last possible second to deliver the ball, which allowed Boldin to get further down field, but more importantly, allowed the zone to clear making it possible for Boldin to scamper unfettered to the 1 yard line.

If Warner throws it immediately (which most qb's would do) Boldin probably gets a gain of 10-20yards, but Warner knew that if he could clear the zone, Boldin would be off to the races. He was! Warner's mind is what sets him apart. It's what set all the greats apart for the better part.

It's the understanding of the game. Montana had it. Manning has it. Warner may very well be the best of them all at understanding the game. Think there might be a few teams ruing the fact they didn't pick him up upon his departure from the Rams? We are lucky indeed!

Of course, he was concussed at the time. It's possible he was trying to throw it to Fitzgerald and missed. :D

Since someone brought up the particular play, man, did Boldin look slow on that play. I thought for sure he was going to get into the end zone. Someone take away his cement shoes.

Good post. There are small things that go unnoticed by most people which means the difference between a big gain and a small gain. Comes from years of experience and absorbing what you learned and putting it to use. Kurt is one of those people. This is an excellent Cardinal team but without Kurt we are just a .500 team or less. When Kurt retires we are going to have a year of pain while we try to figure out if Matt is the answer or have to start looking for a QB. Looking for a QB as we all know is a painful operation without anathesia. Having been here for two years Matt sure looks a bit lost out there and has no rhythm with his receivers. I wonder if in practice does he get many reps with the starters? When Steve Young finally came in at SF after a few years on the bench he was an immediate winner.

Didn't look any slower than he has his whole career. Had three players that had the angle on him. Now your nitpicking.

Great observation Cards232------We are truly witnessing something VERY SPECIAL RIGHT NOW, and hopefully it will continue without mental or physical harm to KW for the long term. He is steadily putting on a clinic for the fans of the game-----and I, for one, am putting these treasures away into my mind each game because THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR A LONG-LONG TIME. We have Warner and Payton Manning performing at Hall of Fame levels. Brady, Farve, and Breeze are not far behind at this point in time, and Rivers is fast approaching that level also. The fact that it is all happening in one season is fantastic.

The performances that KW has put up these last two seasons, (and looks to put up even next year if Brenda consents to it), have made most of our fans so giddy, and EXPECTING of that excellence, that an ordinary performance like Matt Leinart put up in the second half yesterday, is viewed as unfitting by some fans.

Along with this, the emergence of the talent from this rookie class, and the coming together of the veterans into ONE HEARTBEAT that Whizenhunt has nurtured, has made for a SPECIAL TIME IN HISTORY FOR US CARDINALS FANS. I intend to savor EVERY moment of it:):D;)

True.
No one has ever confused him with a speed demon, that's for sure.
I was shocked by his speed on his TD (hammy-injury) against the Falcons.

I've been saying this for the past 2 years and I'll continue to say it... Kurt is nowhere near appreciated by Cardinal fans as much as he should be. And the post-Kurt era will be extremely painful. He is putting this team in positions we would just not be in if not for Kurt running the show. I'm pretty convinced we would be a mere .500 team at best with any other QB at the helm. Our running game is improving and should that trend continue, it could soften the blow when Kurt decides to hang up his cleats.
However, his on-field command of our offense and ability to read defenses as well as any other QB in the league, and his historical ability to put the ball in places most other QB's simply can't, has been the single biggest, non-coaching contribution to this team. No other player has had such a positive, win-producing impact as has Kurt.

Again, very much under-appreciated... And the post-Kurt era is going to suck...

Fully agree that Kurt is not appreciated enough by enough of Cards fans.

Disagree that it is a given the post Warner era is going to suck.

Kurt does give the Cards a chance to win against any team, without him as the team is today that changes. Matt needs a couple of years starting to approach what Kurt does on the field. So few QB's can do what Kurt does.

We need an elite Pro Bowl OT.
We need an elite pass rusher.
When that happens this team will have a chance to beat anyone, even without Kurt.

Hope you're right. We can't predict what will happen in the future... Your needs are spot on, but what will transpire in order for us to obtain those guys - who knows... Will Q still be here? If not, who?
And I just can't shake this extremely uneasy feeling whenever I think of Matt as our starter. Will he actually enable more W's than L's?? Who knows...

Before Whisenhunt got here a mere .500 team for consecutive years still would have had many Cardinals fans thrilled!

So yeah, we are getting spoiled; and loving it!

Isn't this what also gets him in trouble? ie, hanging onto the ball and getting stripped, sacked, fumbled, etc?

It does get him in trouble from time to time. However, he makes FAR more plays this way. It's a high risk high reward deal. The rewards far outweigh the risks. We went to the SB last year b/c of Warner's brand of football. I'll give up the strip, sack, fumble occassionally in order to have all the td's & plays he makes.

So far, it has equated to a winning season that the Cards hadn't seen in quite some time. Remember as well, this is the same style of play he had w/ the Rams. It's a pretty good track record over all.

We're spoiled with him as our QB.
We are. I'd hate for us to become like Bronco fans, though. They run every QB out of town for not being Elway. It's as if they don't realize how special it is to have stability at the QB position (although they're slowly learning the hard way).

Portland Oregon these days.
If the day we let Denny walk, someone had promised me our next coach would go his first three seasons without a losing record, I'd have thought they were spiking the kool aide.
