On Boldin's catch & run for 38 yards to the 1 yard line. It was a hot read for Boldin. His cover blitzed. Boldin was open as soon as he crossed the LOS, but instead of hitting Boldin then, Warner waited till the last possible second to deliver the ball, which allowed Boldin to get further down field, but more importantly, allowed the zone to clear making it possible for Boldin to scamper unfettered to the 1 yard line.
If Warner throws it immediately (which most qb's would do) Boldin probably gets a gain of 10-20yards, but Warner knew that if he could clear the zone, Boldin would be off to the races. He was! Warner's mind is what sets him apart. It's what set all the greats apart for the better part.
It's the understanding of the game. Montana had it. Manning has it. Warner may very well be the best of them all at understanding the game. Think there might be a few teams ruing the fact they didn't pick him up upon his departure from the Rams? We are lucky indeed!
