Hey Prickley,

I know you read the board, because you mentioned the "Foghorn leghorn" helmet earlier. Thought it was hilarious listening to you and the "Cardinals outsider" rip on the Cardinals the entire morning, talking out of both sides of your mouth on every point in the issue. It's hilarious how you act like you are the voice of the fans and the players, insinuating how while they act like they really like the logo, of course, it's just for show.

It's lucky that the Phoenix sports market is so crappy, otherwise hacks and mercenaries like you and Gambo, with no investment at all in the local teams, would be hawking insurance. Questioning the "intelligence" of Cardinals fans for supporting the team was a pretty classy move also. Of course, you would only understand supporting a team that won consistently. I'll tell you, most of us go to the games, and win or lose, we have a great time. We don't need some douchebag like you questioning our intelligence for spending our money on our team.

Keep talking crap about the team, when they make the playoffs this year or next, you will be sucking up to the team, and writing glowing aricles about Bidwill and redemption. Pardon us real fans if it doesn't make us ill.

Didn't mind Bickley before when he was (IMO) justifiably slamming the Bidwills for hanging players out to try and extending mediocre coaches. This year it bothered me when the refrain "same old Cardinals" was sung before the paint was even dry on the new era. Coupled with questioning the support of the fans...I agree, no class. Maybe I've just respected to many fans of losing teams for their dedication, and was thrilled for them when they got their moment in the sun.

Bickley isn't writing to the die-hards on this board. Remember, most who read Bickley and follow the Cardinals in AZ were already grown when they moved here, so it's not like we followed them as kids. I'm a Cardinals fan only because they're now the hometown team. 15 years of ineptitude has made me skeptical, and until I see a big change in direction they'll be fifth on my list of favorite local teams. I think the majority of AZ sports fans feel the same way I do, and I bet most of those lukewarm Cardinals fans (like me) agree w/ most of what Bickley says and writes about them. Call me fairweathered if you want--I am--but most fans are until a team gives them a sustained reason both to support it and stick with it, which the Cardinals haven't.

Not trying to stir the pot, just my two cents.

Bickley rules. Dan, keep up the good work - you are by far the most entertaining sports writer in the Valley.

I can't see why this team doesn't have the support of the fringe fan. Most of us came from other places. We moved here for a better life, a good job, weather and many more good reasons. They pay local taxes and reap the benifits of this great valley. But when it comes to football they feel that if we win with that lousy owner Bidwill we will MAYBE root for them.

This team does much more for us than just play football in the greatest league in this country. They do more than attract the best that football has to offer in some of our players and the great ones that arrive in our city every weekend. They give. They give to hundreds of local charities. They show up in schools and hospitals. Do the Browns or the Cowboys or any other team care about our community. NO ! How can you root against us. You don't have to go to everyt game and most don't ? They would rather root for 60 years for the Cubs who fill up stadiums because they are loved. THese players play hard every week. They wear the Arizona name and I for one am proud to be a fan and enjoy every game I have a privilage to see. Yes it's great when they win. But these kids give it there all and that is why you should care about this team win or lose.

Funny how sensitive Bickley and Jurecki are too criticism. They allowed to rail on the Cardinals, but the callers aren't supposed to criticize them.

To the Cards organization that do read this board, when you do turn around the offense next year and everyone jumps on the bandwagon please be selective as to who you give access to. Gambo is one that will have to read this board in order to write his crap. Sommers will have access to the players and coaches. At least he writes what he sees. Bickley will have to cruise ESPN for information. And it will not go unnoticed here.

Great post! This might sound borderline psychotic/obsessive, but this team is like a friend to me. I root for them whether they're doing well or not doing well. I don't turn my back on them when things aren't going well.

He does some bashing, but he is probably the best of the cardinals writers.
He calls it in the middle cup. If were doing bad he'll let us know and if we are doing good he'll write a positive article on us. Unlike Bickley,Gambo and fat Paula who never ceased to amaze me with such venom on us.

I met Dan Bickley up at training camp one year (1998 I think) and I was just tired of hearing him rip on the Cardinals so I went up to him with a big smile on my face, introduced myself and told him that I thought he was full of S##t. He kind of grinned and tried to act like he thought it was funny and then he walked away. A bunch of guys who were listening were laughing their heads off. Bickley is a punk!

This reply should be posted on the editorial page of the Arizona Republic.

One of the best posts ever about a smuck like Dan B.

I've always thought Bickley to be an intelligent guy and an above average writer, but he has always been the quintessential douchebag. I remember this mullet-donning clown arriving in the Valley with much fanfare as he was supposed to verify our status as a sports town due to the Republic stealing a reputable sportswriter away from a large Midwest paper. However, in his time here all Bickley has accomplished (other than his transformation to metrosexuality) is years of useless articles which for the most part subtly degrade the fans here in Phoenix. Thanks for nothing Bick, we should have included you as part of the Roberto Alomar trade.

People, remember that Dan Bickley, Paola Boivin, and John Gambadora are all sports op/ed collumnists, working for an organization, The Republic, that panders to a Phoenix civic community they percieve to be anti-Bidwill / Cardinal.

If the town ever embraces the Cards, their columns will no doubt shift to sing the praises of the Cardinals.

Urban and Bordow are reporters, responsible for bringing us the who, what, when, why and where of the Cardinals. This is why they regularly attended practices, while others don't.

Bickley isn't paid to build up the Cardinals. Heck, he isn't even paid to be right about the opinions he expresses in his collumns. He is there to stir the pot and get people talking about his latest article so that local residents will buy their newspaper.

Yeah, well he and the others like him are not very good at their job on that account either...

I know more people; myself included; who have quit buying the "Repugnant" because of nimwits like Bickley and his cohorts than people being interested in their drivel!

I'm not high

on any of them other than Urban. He's the ONLY one that doesn't just run his opinionated mouth. Gives a good report, tells it like it is. If there's a positive spin he gives it to you. Bordow=weak, Bickley=Curtis's girlfriend,
Gambo=a wanna be east coaster that has nothing but the accent.
Urban rules!!
