Can't the hawks move out guys like marvin williams/pachulia to get the numbers right and direct that to minnesota.

*edit: Ah I see while making this post I forgot about the atlanta under the cap partand didn't read it until after.

3 Team deals can be wacky but let me think about this. Hopefully I get it right.

Amares contract this year is 12, while KG is 24, so suns need to still send additional salary such as KT. So the suns are now giving up Amare + KT + atl 08 for Garnett.

So between the suns and minny from the KG outgoing contract perspective the salaries match, but the problem is now Atlanta has to be within 1.25% of amares contract. So at the very least they have to send out 9 million.

That would have to go the minessota, since the suns are taking on KG's albatross contract. Minnys incoming needs to be 17 million IIRC, so KT takes 8 of that off to set it at 9 million.

Now the hawks have to send 9 million to Minnesota to make the deal work.

So the suns have lost one hell of a lot, the hawks lose all their picks and mostly a hell of a lot of their starting players, lets say Marvin, Zaza, and Childress to make the salaries match.

Looking at it from atlanta: -#3 -#11 -Marvin -Zaza -Childress
Do you do that for Amare? Talent wise maybe? Minutes wise and losing a lot of starters wise HELL NO!
Looking at it from the suns: Amare AND KT for KG, is it really worth it? If the hawks with a screwed up lineup now the atl 08 might be good? Maybe?
Minessota gets an absoulute ridiculous steal, great picks and tons of young talent. Mchale looks like a historically great gm after this one.

The suns are the only one that really break even in this, Minnesota gets way to much for someone who is going to opt out, and the hawks get exploded.

if history has taught me anything it's that just when the Suns seem right on the cusp of achieving the unachievable, SOMETHING freaking ruins it for us. It would just kill me if it was the freaking Lakers/Hawks.

You know what, about an hour ago I was actually stupid enough to think this was gonna happen. After reading the latest stuff, I dont think so, and I'm not just saying that for superstitious reasons, at least not right now.

1.) Minny doesn't need to take 16 million incoming. The get a TE for the difference if they take back less salary.

Its actually pretty easy to make the trade work (you ignored the cap friendly contracts part)

Phx Sends

KT
Amare

Phx Gets

KG

Minny Sends

KG

Minny Gets

KT
Anthony Johnson
Lorenzon Wright
#11
#3

Atlanta Sends

Anthony Johnson
Lorenzon Wright
#11
#3

Atlanta Gets

Amare

(may not be perfect, but it is very close and easily altered to make it work)

Yeah you got me on the right path on this one, only thing though is no way do the wolves take anthony johnson, wolves would demand a good rookie like Childress or williams. MAYBE they would settle for Lue.

No they wouldn't. They are getting 2 frickin lottery picks and massive salary relief - that is their goal for KG.

Johnson/Wright/Thomas are all expiring contracts.

That's robbery in Hawks favor! Amare is worth at least #3, #11, and Josh Smith, and plus. Not to mention, the value of their 08 pick declines considerably with this trade and we need compensation for that too.

Hey Webber went for Hardaway plus 3 high lottery picks back then. By all indication, Amare has already proved to be more than Webber's highest potential as rookie!

Since the Wolves cannot force the Suns to deal Amare, this is just a no-go.

I think the Suns are perfectly prepared to go into next season with the current roster (even with a distraught Marion). They would like to deal, but they certainly don't have to.

I'm not sure what the Wolves "Plan B" is. They can wait a year and end up with nothing if KG carries out his threat. It's a risky proposition considering the amount of money KG already has accumluated.

The thing is if deciding between doing this or the bobcats #8 deal, I take the bobcats deal hands down.

So SCREW the hawks!

I'm not sure why the Suns would send Amare and KT and make their ATL 08 pick worthless for KG.

Plan B is the same kind of four way trade with the Lakers substituted for the Sunsas was mentioned in the article. Very doable IMO.

does anyone else feel like this whole thing is akin to a bad acid trip? Up and down, euphoric highs which instantly give way to plummetting lows... simmering head-ache... can't sleep... just want it to end. That's what this period has felt like to me.

There is no logical reason minnesota could make us deal amare to ATL to land KG.

This should have been dead 3 pages ago.

KG wants to go to a contender. Is it your opinion that the Lakers are a contender?

Is it your opinion that KG just called Kobe over the last two days to solely to see if he could get him a tee-time at the Beverly Hills Golf Club next week?

If that four way happens, I think as the suns you have to put barbosa in there with marion and hope indy wants marion/barbosa more than odom/bynum.

100% agree, pretty easy to tell that Minny cooked this up and got Atlanta on board - and are trying to sell Phoenix.

The chances of this incarnation of the trade happening is very low I would have to guess. Atlanta gets such a steal like you said.

I can't see a deal happening until Thursday when the deadline for a deal gets really close.

KG doesn't want to be a Laker, but the whole drama about this and the Suns deal may be dead he opened up to it, but only if Kobe could guarantee that he would stay, because KG doesn't want to be in the focus of LA.

Of course the Hawks want Amare

Amare's line that game?
43 points 16 rebounds 6 assists 3 blocks

If the Suns sent Amare and KT they would need to get a pick back (#7 or #11) to make it palatable. However, that pick is negated by making the Hawks a playoff team in the East and ruining the ATL '08 pick. Trading Marion to the Hawks would ruin the pick as well. Thus, the Suns might as well include that pick, either:

1) Suns must send Marion + ATL '08 + other picks/players for KG
2) Suns send Amare + ATL '08 + KT for KG + #3

The Suns will be just fine if they don't make a move so I hope they don't panic.
