Chris Harrington is a fool, IMO.

The Cardinals obviously want to put the time into developing this kid, and he wants none of it. I hope for his sake, this oppourtunity works out. Cause he was heading no where with the Bengals, and was lucky the Caridnals re-signed him to the practice squad.

http://blog.azcardinals.com/2009/12/11/cards-lose-harrington-and-other-notes/

I hope the Cardinals can find another OLB'er prospect and stop wasting time on Harrington.

Totally disagree and I'm happy for Harrington. Most all players when given the opportunity to join a teams active roster are gonna jump at it. Why not? Its their chance to not only instantly increase their salary by a huge amount. It also gives them a possible chance to shine in a game environment. Something they are not getting with their current team.

How do you know he didnt do what Patrick did when a team tried to sign him away from us? Patrick went to the team and asked if they planned on using hiim. They said yes you are in our plans. So he stayed. Maybe the Cards told Harrington that for the near future he just isnt in the plans?

People need to do whats best for themselves overall and I will hold no ill will toward him for trying to better his situation.

Fair Enough.

Yet, Darren Urban noted last year, that when Harrington signed with the Bengals, that the Cardinals asked him to stay in AZ and that they had plans for the kid.

He is undersized DE for a 4-3 defense. He is better suited to play OLB'er in a 3-4 defense but has to learn the position.

In AZ he works as a OLB'er, with the Bengals he was an DE, and with the Jaguars, who knows ?

If the guy wants money and oppourtunity he should learn one position, stick with it, and take advantage of learning the game. But that is just my opinion.

If Harrington thinks taking advantage of this oppourtunity is the way to go, then that is fine. Good for him. If and when he gets cut from the Jaguars he better hope another team is ready to give him a shot.

Plus I am only saying that I do not want to see Harrington back with the Cardinals. He is obviously a waste of time, and wants no part of the Cardinals plans since this is the SECOND time he left AZ for the oppourtunity for another team. There is no ill-will, just frustration with wasting time on projects that reap zero rewards.

Such is life at the bottom of the NFL depth charts.

That is just complete BS Rugby! Sorry. The guy is given an opportunity to quadruple his salary and given the opportunity to play on game day and you begrudge the guy for leaving??? It may hurt in his gut to leave and he might hate it but just can't pass the opportunity? You just dont know.

That just doesnt compute IMO. That in no way shows that he doesn't have any interest in being here. All it shows is that the guy is gonna jump at the chance to improve his situation when it comes. Don't know many people that wouldn't jump at that chance.

The Cards obviously like him and apparently so do other teams. Wouldn't shock me if we saw him here again and I'm quite certain the coaches dont hold a decision like this against him. The goal of an NFL player especially practice player is to elevate to the active roster. Dude made it. Kudos to him.

His game day check on a 53 man roster is actually closer to over ten times his PS salary.

10 times your original salary and a chance to play and give teams tape of you playing is good for Harrington and I say kudos for getting that shot.

Again. There is no ill will. But, at what point to you forget about one project and move onto another. It would absolutely shock me to see Harrington in AZ again.

It is without a doubt, a tough situation. Does he take the money and run, or does he invest time in an effort to not only make an active roster, but to stay on an active roster for an extended amount of time.

One example in Antonio Smith says to invest time, but another example in Elloit Vallejo shows the risk in doing so.

Furthermore, to continue the debate. Harrington "made it", yeah by signing with another team more desparate for a body to fill a void.

He "made it" last year, and then was cut before the half way point this season. And was lucky the Cardinals' 2nd round pick was hurt, because it opened up the need for a OLB'er on the PS.

I am looking at this situation with what is best in concerns to the Arizona Cardinals. Not what is best for Chris Harrington.

IMO, find another project.

Who cares? With all the injuries we've had at LB he still couldn't make any sort of impact.

The game is not till Monday. We need some insignificant, non-issue to debate over till then.

And your breaking up the flow of dramatic over-analysation.

:D

Good point and drives it home even further why he would be stupid not to accept it actually.

I agree. There probably isn't a place in this country I wouldn't move to in a heartbeat if I were to make 10x my current salary.

Living in Paradise has its few downfalls but We've dodged almost every hurricane for almost 50+ years here where I live. Now that I said this I've just brought one on us.

I sure hope not.Back to the thread.Harrington gets to join a team that had no business getting back into the AFC playoff race but the Jags have with the win over the texans last week and will have a tough road to stay one of the last wild cards but it gives this guy a chance to be on the playing field and one injury away from playing,if not in a rotation or special teams.

He did the right thing but in the offseason he may learn we might want him back if we really need to fill our lb spot more desperately than we think right now.Its tough to be one of the best teams in the league.Everyone is trying to steal from your roster.

Like those penquins who spend all day stealing rocks from each other to make their nests. Its too funny.

To say GOD has'nt BLESSED the CARDINALS for two years health wise is not having your eyes open.Guys have healed also with no chance of being totally healthy again this year. Its amazing. How can Dansby get both shoulders pounded and come back with 7 tackles and an interception and more in last weeks game.He really wants his payday.

I'm really hoping we find a diamond in the draft for our inside linebacker. Our scouts are some of the best and I don't think finding that guy is gonna be that hard for them. We've got our starters for next year if they both spend offseason with the coach we've yet to RESIGN YET in Lott.

That game last night proves that any given Sunday.A NFL team that looked like a HS team in weeks before can perform in of course sub-standard circumstances and beat a team that should NEVER have even been in that situation.I say poor coaching from many steelers coaches.Plus if the Browns don't pay that awesome returnman they have that can do everything they are idiots. They've let everyone else go.That one man won the game for them by himself last night.Someone get a contract ready. You can't teach speed like that.

While I understand your point, I definitely can't blame him at all.

Game checks > PS salary.

I'd be more concerned if he turned down the offer from the Jags. That would tell me that he's content just collecting a paycheck on the practice squad and could care less about making it in the NFL.

Besides, I don't know about you, but I've been in a situation where I was asked to not go for a different job and to stick it out where I was and it would be made worth my while down the road. Guess what, I should have gone for the job.

Harrington would've been a total idiot to not move from a practice squad to an active roster. And, is they still think he can help and they want to bring him back in the future, that's cool too.

Personally, I like the fact that we have guys good enough on our practice squad that teams want to sign them. It used to be when most players left our practice squad, their career was over, period. And, we would try to sign guys to start off of other teams practice squads. Corey Sears, anyone?

This is a fantastic opportunity for Chris Harrington. He's obviously not playing this year and next year even if Berry and Okeafor are let go he still has Haggins, Brown and Davis ahead of him. On top of that, I think we're all expecting the Cardinals to bring in (probably draft) more players at that position. We really don't know what to expect out of Brown but Davis was coming along nicely before getting injured and Haggins has been productive.

Jacksonville, however, is dead last in the league with 12 sacks. They don't have a single DE on the roster with more than 1 sack for the whole season. DT John Henderson leads the team with 3 while LB Daryl Smith has 1.5. CH may not turn out to be a successful player but on that roster he has a far better chance of contributing than on this one.

The NFL is a business and the players aren't invested in "loyalty" to teams the way we fans are. They'll play their ass off for the guy next to them, but if they can make more money with different guys next to them, they'll play their asses off for them, too.

The fact that we have guys on our practice squad that other teams want on their active roster speaks very well of our 53-man team. It wasn't that long ago that the Cardinals had guys suiting up on Sunday that would't make other teams; that's not the case anymore.

Good for Harrington. He's realizing his lifelong dream of playing football on Sundays with the very best in the world.
