The Cardinals could have retained Harrington by promoting him to the 53 man roster. Obviously the Cardinals would rather wait another 4 weeks for Will Davis to be helathy in time for the playoffs than keep Harrington. If the Cardinals were that high on Harrington, they would have placed Davis on the IR and activated Harrington....and they could have used him in Davis' place in the interim, but, in reality, the Cardinals chose to let him go. Thus, Harrington had no other choice really. Passing up a 53 man roster spot with the Jaguars in the hopes of making the Cardinals' roster next year (which he hasn't accomplished in 2 years here) would be foolish.
