Freddie Jones is probably better than K2 will ever be. We need help on defense.

With the #3 pick of the 2004 draft, the cardinals select........

Derrick Strait, CB, University of Oklahoma!

If you think Thomas Jonses' brother is gonna make us like KC you need to pass the crack pipe brother.

That's not Thomas Jones' brother, but please, by all means, take the crack pipe regardless.

Crack. It's what's for dinner.

Under the premise that the QBs are gone,

I cast my vote for Kellen Winslow Jr.

Freddie Jones is in the last year of his contract.

Winslow will create matchup problems galore and provide that down the middle of the field speed that Freddie just doesnt have anymore.

A. I don't want to draft Kevin Jones.

B. Julius Jones is Thomas Jones' brother.

C. I wish we had a great offense and a poor defense. Right now, we suck on both sides of the ball.

D. I'm not the guy who thought we could get Mike Williams for a third or fourth round pick. And I'm the one doing crack? :D

If Manning is there (and I doubt it), then Green will no doubt pick him. But I seriously doubt that Green would pick Ben R. If Manning is gone, I have the sneaky suspicion that Green will take Williams from TX. He's exactly the type of receiver that Dennis likes. With Boldin, Williams & Johnson, Green would have the receiving core to run HIS OFFENSE, regardless of who the QB is. Green says he will take the best player available, but rest assure it will be an OFFENSIVE player. That being said, he'd pass on Taylor. Write it down now, its either Manning or Williams!!!

But then your masterplan falls apart if this happens:

Foil of masterplan A:
1. SD selects Eli Manning
2. Oak selects Roy Williams

San Diego decides that Drew Brees isn't the answer. With Manning and Tomlinson, the Chargers have a great offensive twosome for years to come. Remember when Peyton came into the league? He had Faulk to lean on. Well Manning will have an even better back to lean on...

Oakland decides that they need another impact receiver, and Roy Williams fills the bill. Since the Gruden era has probably come to a close, look for the Raiders to go back to the Al Davis' favorite offense, the vertical offense. Williams & Porter would give the Raiders two big, fast targets for Tuiasosopo and the trio of backs, Garner, Wheatley, and Fargas.

Foil of masterplan B:
1. SD selects Roy Williams
2. Oak selects Eli Manning

San Diego decides that Brees can cut it as a starting quarterback in the NFL. With Williams, Boston, and Tomlinson, Brees will have some of the best offensive weapons in the league. And SD could possibly bring in a veteran quarterback to push Brees....

Oakland sees Eli Manning, and can't pass on the guy. With a new coaching staff in place, the Eli Manning era of Raiders football begins. With Porter, Rice, Brown and the three amigos (Wheatley, Garner, and Fargas), Manning has a decent, not great supporting cast.

How much is our first round pick beeing influenced by the depth in round 2 and 3?? What do you think?

While one superstar will make this a great draft regardless of the other I think the package we come up with is still important. We need to fill several areas and matching up the priorities with the talent available is the key.

It would be interesting to have ranking of needs first. Maybe this board can find a consens (No, I doubt it ;))

My two cents:

(out of 10)

CB 9
QB 8.5
WR 7
DL 6
OL 6
RB 5

So what is the better combination

1st QB and CB 2nd

or

1st CB and QB 2nd

SD will draft Manning unless someone makes them an offer they can't refuse. Either way, Manning goes #1. If Oakland goes WR it will be Fitzgerald, not Williams. We'll have a choice between Williams, Roethlesberger or Taylor. Green has proven he can win no matter who the QB is & we won't go defense with his 1st choice as Cardinal coach, so the answer has to be Roy Williams. This franchise has done very well drafting WR's named Roy.
