I hope nothing but the best for Isabella. My question is there a benefit keeping him inactive? I know we have some injuries, so I would think the Cards would activate him. If only for special teams.

I had a thought.... left field kinda thing.
We are likely losing Kirk this off season....
There were several solid reports on Izzy showing improvements..
What if.... what if the team has him on stash right now? Keeping him on the DL steadily coaching him up...
Then they let Kirk walk instead of paying him 12-15mil.... place Isabella in his spot.... if the coaching worked and he is fairly successful.... dude would be pretty easy to sign for cheap since he only had one year of production as a third or fourth WR...
Helps us dramatically in the cost control area right at the time we are gonna have to pay Kyler 40m a year. Because we would still have Moore on his rookie deal
Hope he has a good 2022 in this scenario, because best case is that this is a good recipe to end up with a Hassan Reddick situation and set Andy up for his next team.

Not really a benefit thing as much as the Cards have 4 excellent WR's and need different positions active for game day. This past game we had at least 2 lbers that were questionable to play because of injuries so you keep an extra lber active instead of Isabella because of our strength at WR and need to have several TE's active because Ertz being new to the Offense etc.

But we keep the Texas tech dude who has never shown anything on the active roster over Isabella. Okay.

If he gets any interest you trade him. There is a reason why he is inactive...its that he is not good enough to get on the field for this team as it currently stands.

Next year we might have some holes at WR...but we will also have comp picks if we lose both Green and Kirk....plus whatever we could get for him.

I am very confident we can draft a pure speed guy with one of those picks, and chances are he will bring more to the table than Isabella.

It's about this year, not next.

Wouldn't you want a WO familiar with the system if Kirk or Rondalle are out?

for me: the advantage of having a guy who knows your offense, can give you 80% of what Kirk or Moore can and can step in and get you through two, four, six games or something is more valuable than a 5th round pick or lower next year

and for the "he is inactive so he is garbage" view -- maybe. But young players can get better from year to year and its possible his only fault at this point is he isnt as good as Kirk and Moore.

For me: the bolded has zero evidence of being based in reality.

I struggle to see why the Cardinals would trade him in-season for a late round pick when he is under contract for next year. Maybe Ertz changes things but Kirk and Moore are getting a ton of snaps inside and Isabella seems to be the primary backup. Before anyone brings up Dortch, keep in mind he has been on the PS the entire year and no other team has poached him.

I actually thought he'd not only be active, but involved in the offense.

I assumed they'd want Moore and Isabella on the field at the same time a couple plays a game if nothing more than gadget plays. I thought at worst they'd use him to take the top off a defense at least once a game. Missing preseason has really cost him.

I'd still hold onto him for next year cause we dont know for sure whats gonna happen with Green and Kirk.

At this point I wouldn't trade anybody. This is a playoff team. You don't trade away depth especially veteran depth with knowledge of your system.

I'm not bothered about a low round pick but I'm still concerned about our CB depth. If we can trade him for or include him in a package for a decent depth quality CB I'd snatch their hand off.

For me that's where the wheels come off this team later in the year.

i get it

there has been some evidence though -- he has flashed with big plays early last year, but also disappeared for the back half as well

im clearly assuming some development/progress on Isabella's part that we cant see

they kept him for a reason, vs someone like a JoJo Ward or the other return guy who really flashed in the preseason

It is a seller's market. I don't move him for less than a 4 or a high 5.

He still has a salary-controlled year left on his contract and Kirk and Green are up after the season.
This is true. Teams that need a WR right now will have to pay a premium. Maybe not a 4 though. We could use a rotation center, TE, or DB.

Wesley had a drop and Kyler seems to not have any real chemistry with him (Had him open one time and didnt throw it)

I'd much rather have Isabella as a 4.3 decoy on the field instead of this guy.

Wesley had a 4th down catch in the 3rd qtr…. I think he was targeted 3 times; one catch, one drop/semi-drop and an overthrow.

He looked slow getting down field and that 4th down catch I was worried the ball was about to get stripped away. Obviously for continuity sake I'd rather we kept KJ as the 5th option. However, I'd rather have Isabella as the 5th over him. Put more speed on the field instead of a skinny slow guy.

Isabella is a deep threat that can’t track deep balls. I would take KeeSean over them both.

For sure. However, I want to see if those improved Isabella reports from camp are real. I know they activate Wesley in part to have more size on the outside to replace Hopkins. I'd still make my chance on a guy that at least had some success. Still surprising KJ got cut.
