Well my acquaintances who were at the Florida Pro Day came away raving about Jonathan Bullard's performance. Most scouts have been projecting him at DE but my guys said he's looks to be able to play inside as well. He's always looked good against the run. His penetration abilities dramatically improved under the new coaching staff. He's a little light for a traditional nose tackle, the observers believe he has the frame to carry another 15-20 pounds with no loss of quickness. Could be an option at 29 with the flexibility to play in or out.

:yeahthat:

Harry---Florida's defensive players in this draft are very impressive---no wonder why, even as a SEC school, they were the best defense in the country:

CB Vernon Hargreaves III
DE Jonathan Bullard
S Keanu Neal
ILB Antonio Morrison
OLB Alex McCalister

if the Cardinals could find a way to draft one or two of these players---man that would be superb.

I've not followed Bullard so I can't say he's not the right choice. But Pro Days and the like mean almost nothing to me. I want to know how he performed in actual games -- when it counted.

Before his Pro Day, did he measure up collegiately? Did anyone think he was first round material after actually watching him play?

Check for yourself his 2015 game versus Alabama:

He didn't do much in that game. Maybe 4 tackles with one of them a loss.

He got consistently double teamed and fought his tail off---really gets off the ball on the snap, plays strong and runs well. Was keying on the Bama running game and was bottling things up and scraping down to the ball very well, imo. Like Harry said, he is kind of a tweeter, but the Cardinals would like his inside/outside versatility.

I like the idea of adding an guy who can give some inside pressure

As much as you want that outside speed rusher -- it seems a guy who can take away space in the pocket for a QB to step up and throw is really valuable

As an example, Michael Bennett of the Seahawks makes their pass rush go.

IMO many more guys offer more production. I think Rankins, Clark & Butler are better options & any of those 3 would be big time players if the Cards are lucky enough to 1 being at 29

I will admit I haven't watched more than 3 Gator games the last 2 season, but he never jumped out on TV to me. We shall see

Stats are only a part of the story. Last year, 66 tackles, 17.5 TFL & 6.5 sacks. He improved dramatically last season and may well have the most upside of any of the tackles. I think he'll be there at 29. So he's an interesting option.

He's definitely an option at 29. Big guys that can move like him are always a good addition. CC and Frosty aren't getting any younger and a young rotation of Bullard, Gunter, and Stinson could make a nice transition.

Bullard is a good player who probably would flash the best as a DT in our four man front in nickel packages. Nice interior rush prospect. I would have no issue with Bullard.

That's exactly what the Cardinals are looking for, interior rushers in the 4 man front.

I disagree,....or,...well,.. offer something else..you may be right in regards to what the team is looking for...

but I would submit, that an explosive and powerful NT who can stay on the field in the nickel as well as the base defense would offer far more value.

There was a play Bullard made against Kentucky that made you just go "wow". It was a run play and Bullard got off the snap so quick and powerful that he literally throws the opposing guard 2 yards into the backfield and then destroys the ball carrier.

I would love Bullard to be our pick at #29!!

Karl Joseph is a CF player like Johnson, who I wouldn't be shocked to see the Cardinals draft.

That type of player is rarely found. Coaches want to keep the NT fresh so he can win the interior matchups in specific situations in the game for the most part.

Gimme Bullard or Butler at 29 and tell Mr Redding it's time to retire.

I would love either of these two at 29... They both fit the profile of high character high effort players BASK look for also

Saints take Rankins

Bills take Reed

Skins take Robinson

Seahawks take Billings

Packers break my heart and take Butler

Steelers take Apple

Chiefs take William Jackson

Cards try and trade back because teams are wanting to jump Denver for

Lynch. If we get stuck and have to pick I think they would pick Kenny Clark

or Jonathon Bullard.

I agree...which is why I have been on the Vernon Butler bandwagon so strongly...pretty sure the dude is a three down nose Tackle....

320lbs...no fat on him.... the dude has a future.
