So we only want our 2nd round pick for 4 years?

If he's 26 now, he'll be 30 when his rookie deal is up, and 34 when his second contract is done.

I'm fine with that. We shouldn't be signing anyone to third contracts unless they're the face of the franchise and likely headed to the Hall of Fame.

It was more directed at some people saying (not you) that Spinal Stenosis isn't a reason not to draft Jarvis Jones because his rookie contract is up at 27. Draft picks (especially high picks) should be seen as franchise players. You aim for the best possible scenario for a player.

Ansah is an athletic freak who has only 9 starts under his belt. It will probably take years for him to transition into the NFL, if at all. He's a little too raw at #7 IMO.

Yep mediocre on tape. If he was 20/21 years old with that body/athleticism like JPP was in 2010 I could see him going top 10-15. But he's almost 24 and raw.

Yep. We're not in the position to be grabbing projects in the 1st round either. If we were playoff contenders like the 49ers, Seahawks, or Patriots. Sure. But we have holes to fill before that ever happens.

I think many of us were considering Hunt for #38 or even #71 & not at #7 where he couldn't be considered a "safe" pick.

He's pretty clearly talking about Ziggy Ansah in that post. You know, the guy whose name is at the top of this thread.

2 problems I have with Ansah at this #7 position.

1. Very little experience. ( played sparingly until half way through his senior season ).
2. Played against some mediocre competition

Leading to a project in progress pick. Early in his career he might be a pass rush only specialist. That is quite a risk with a top 10 pick. Comparing him to Jason Pierre Paul , at this point, is major conjecture.

I would take Jonathan Cooper over Ansah personally.

Other than a medically cleared Jarvis Jones, I would go best offensive lineman still on the board over any of the high-ceiling defensive project players. That's assuming Dee Milliner doesn't somehow fall all the way to #7 overall.

I'm not as big on Milliner as most, but Dion Jordan is the guy who I would have trouble deciding between Warmack/Cooper for. Personally, I like Warmack and Cooper over Joeckel, Fisher and Lane Johnson the more games I watch, but I understand the reasoning behind taking a LT over an OG.

I like Jordan but when I heard he had " nagging injuries" in college I ran for

the hills. Scared me off of him

Milliner can't back peddle. It's the weirdest thing. Still ran a 4.3 so he probably Oakland-bound.

Interesting stuff. That's Millner's cut-ups vs. UGA and Notre Dame. Gator's right that he doesn't seem to have smooth hips. He opens them up almost immediately on the snap of the ball. That's going to get him into trouble at the NFL level.

The guy he reminded me a lot of is Antrel Rolle when he used to play corner. Certainly not the physical presence that Rolle was, but that same kind of stiffness. Don't know if that's the scheme or if that's just what his physical ability is.

Yes, great comparison. He just isn't very fluid moving backwars and transitioning despite being a very good athlete.

This sure feels like where a decent prospect from film gets a lot of hype from blowing up triangle numbers / combine workouts.

For every Jason Pierre Paul, there is an Amobi Akoye.
