Blocking TE--LOVE IT. People argue against blocking TEs, saying that you tip the run when one is in the game. Not so in our offense, I say. The TE is not counted on to be a huge contributor in the passing game, and our offense will definitely remain high-octaine with him in the lineup. When we do run, though, he should be an asset. I bet you he starts, and I'd wager we see more two-TE sets with he and Patrick. I think Pope will end up gone.

Maybe he won't; just IMO. Spach may end up the odd man out. I think Patrick sticks, and I think Becht sticks. Who do you see out of that group getting cut?

Spach. He'll have a hard time coming back and competing at full strength.

The brown resigning is very important to the team IMO I think Becht and Spach are basically battling for the final spot.

Best news is we aren't forced to draft a TE at this point. With the addition of Brown and Becht, that adds two nice pieces in positions of need.

Looks like we'll probably have the depth to draft BPA, which is definitely a luxury. A couple really good players always seem to drop to the end of the first round, now we can choose bpa at RB, DE/LB, or maybe a LT of the future. Kudos to the front office.

What a crazy world, I trust the decision makers in the Cards FO over the Suns and D-Backs, who could have said that 5 years ago?

Finally! A FA signing from another team that I'm thrilled with. Stout, I'm with you on this one. Pope is on the endangered species list as of right now.

Ok, I am truly starting to think we have turned the corner as a franchise. Weird.

I won't say which TE's I think will make the roster or start. I will predict that there will be healthy competition and that Grimm and Whisenhunt know what they are looking for.

Even though I obviously know much more about football than the coach, TE is the one position he might know a little better than I do.

I agree about Becht & Patrick starting together. Maybe why we have not signed FB Smith yet.

IMO Pope is gone.

I've always thought with Pope's height he could be used more as a pass receiver. Maybe he will be better utilized elsewhere if the Cardinals let him go.

Pope has the size and strength be an elite goal line tight end. He has never shown he has the footwork and/or route ability to be that guy.

He better show it in training camp... the one thing I'll give him is, he keeps falling to the bottom of the depth chart and is still healthy when the guys above him all get hurt (over and over again)

I will be a Pope believer until he retires. Dude is a straight up BEAST!

A Beast who's ankles havent been able to support his height and weight to this date yet. What good is a beast that cant even walk. Pope's ankles are always going to be perpetually injured IMO, and so far they have been.

I think the likelihood that T Smith, Castille and other Cardinal FB's will be vulnerable will be equally as great if not more than Pope or Spach. I could see Patrick become more of an H-Back. I do think this will be a make or break year for Pope (but that you don't give up easily on a 6-8 beast - at least unless you get something for him in return).
