I wouldn't want Beasley back here but don't be surprised if he does help Cleveland a bit... he had some good moments with the Heat. Heck, I wouldn't be shocked if playing in China somehow got his head straightened out and he helps the Cavs quite a bit.

They have the death penalty over there for drugs and related crimes. Maybe he cleaned up.

He's been to China before, it didn't change him.

The biggest problem with Beasley isn't the drugs or the immaturity, its that he is a terrible NBA player. He is virtually non-existent as a defender, a terrible passer and a grossly inefficient shooter. He tears it up in China because the level of play there is significantly worse than the NBA's D-League only with smaller defenders. Last year his somewhat "feel good" story in Miami involved him not rebounding, averaging more turnovers than assists, posting a terrible point per shot mark and having a PER of 10.7.

As for the continued Bennett question. Yes, it is true that bringing him in is no worse than bringing in some random D-League player, and like some random D-League player I expect he will score less than 100 points for the remainder of his NBA career, and that is probably generous. I don't see some wasted talent in Bennett. You look at his skill set, his size, his athleticism and his energy level, and its hard to see what he'd be decent at.

I agree with Elind. If we're taking a flyer on someone I'd call up Larry Sanders or Greg Oden before Bennett.

I guess this is one where we would have to trust McD's scouting instincts. If he brings him in, its because he see's something. He is pretty good at that.

People are actually bitching about taking a rent-a-player for the remainder of a lost season? Seriously, who gives a crap?

I don't mind taking on Bennett with minimal expectations.
