The Los Angeles Lakers aren't the prohibitive favorites to win their first-round playoff series matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but they are solid favorites. After all, they have more star power than the Timberwolves, not to mention the home-court advantage.

But the Timberwolves aren't exactly pushovers. They have plenty of size and length in the frontcourt and at the wing position, and they finished sixth in defensive rating during the regular season. They have the personnel to slow down the pace and make the Lakers uncomfortable on both ends of the floor.

Of course, they also have Anthony Edwards, the explosive, high-flying superstar guard who has been compared to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Edwards can not only throw down highlight dunks, but he's also a high-volume scorer and can wreak havoc on the defensive end.

One of the reasons Edwards has become a great player is his chutzpah, which he has in spades. When he was asked if he likes the fact that many are picking the Lakers, he said he does like it.

"Yeah," he said, per Andrew Dukowitz. "I just love it, it’s dope. I love the fact that everybody wants the Lakers to win. That’s how it’s supposed to be, they don’t want the Timberwolves to win. I get it."

Edwards averaged 27.6 points a game and reached the 40-point mark nine times during the regular season. He was named to his third straight All-Star team, and he set a new career-high by making 39.5% of his 10.3 3-point attempts per game.

He came up big in last season's playoffs when he led the Timberwolves to an upset over the then-defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the second round of the playoffs. The Lakers must contain him while not letting anyone else on the Timberwolves roster hurt them offensively.
