SMITH SIGNS TENDER

Posted by Mike Florio on April 3, 2008, 1:58 p.m.
We reported on Wednesday night that Cardinals defensive end Antonio Smith wants to be traded.
Though he still might, a league source tells us that he has also signed his one-year restricted free agency tender.
He will earn a non-guaranteed base salary of $2.017 million in 2008. He previously had been available to be signed by another team to an offer sheet, but compensation to the Cardinals would have been in the amount of a first-round draft pick.
Smith can stay away from voluntary workouts without penalty. Because he is under contract, he is subject to fines if he skips mandatory minicamps and/or any portion of training camp.

We enjoy the freedom of the press in the US. That is why when we go to the local grocery store we see the wonderful pubs that tell us about the landing on earth by aliens from pluto and venus. I am not recommending people limit their reading to the Christian Science Monitor, but when you see ANYTHING from PFT consider it a giant load of bull pucky...control>alt>delete is the most sensible move...for me.
