Next week, with two cuts, the team will be down to 53 players. Every year there seems to be a few surprises but this year I'm not sure if there will be any. Grasping at straws I'll present the following possibilities:

1. McAddley-A starter last year, but it doesn't seem that he's done anything this year.
2. Wells-Started camp like a house on fire but lately haven't heard much about him.
3. Rhinehart-Only because he was still in the SD game well into the 2nd half. Seems like the coaches wanted to see something.
4. Parsons-I think he'll be replaced by a vet pickup off the waiver wire. Or maybe by another (hopefully better) young QB, again off the wire.

Granted these are reaches but every year..............

I can't imagine them cutting McAddley. He showed he had some tools last year, and he has done nothing to change that this year.

No way. When you don't hear an O-Lineman's name it's a good thing - it means they aren't allowing any plays their way. He'll be a very good, solid O-Lineman for us.

Can we stick him back on the practice squad?

In this morning's "From the Bleachers" on KDUS, Jurecki called McAddley one of "the biggest disappointments" of training camp and preseason. (Also said that Bryant Johnson knows "how to get paid like a pro," now needs to learn "how to play like a pro.")

Why the love affair with McAddley, anyway? Why has a fifth-rounder with good--not great--speed and raw technique been given so much attention?

Damn. The kid's a rookie wideout, what do you expect? He never had the ball thrown to him in college. He'll be lucky to catch 50 balls this season. Some expectations for draft picks in this city are a little high. By not having anyone established ahead of him, and demanding success right now, you're setting him up for failure.

Because he DOES HAVE GREAT SPEED! Wherever you heard he doesnt is just plain wrong. He was a very good sprinter on Alabamas track team as well.

The guy has good physical skills and size. He showed much promise last year making several nice catches and even having a 100 yard game in his first game as a starter.

Showed an ability to adjust to the ball in the air as well last year. All reasons why people are very high on him!

Was catching all the balls thrown his way until his forearm injury.

The kid has talent and has shown alot for a 5th rounder!

i like the frame that talent is in. One more year with sully theb kid could be a stud.

The coaches love wells and wont get rid of him. Parsons has been the best qb this pre-season if anyone cut McCown.

Wells is injured right now. Maybe he goes IR. Most felt he was raw and would be something of a project. I cannot see him getting cut.

Rhinehart is a shoe in IMO. He Starks, Barrett, Hill and Eason (assuming he produces on ST) will all make it. Unless Eason cannot do anything on ST, he has done enough to warrant a roster spot.

Yeah, I have a Press Pass Jersey Edition Bronze Autograph card. It's pretty neat. I have a ton of Boldin and Johnson cards. No Pace ones though, oddly enough...

...Plenty of Larry Johnson, Byron Leftwich, Andre Johnson, and Carson Palmer cards, though.

Jurecki is wrong. McAddley had a good camp until he sprained his ankle. Since then, he's been on limited duty for weeks.

Sorry, Garth, IMO you whiffed.

Dennis Johnson, Mike Stone, Jason Starkey, and Travis Prentice will be gone, I think. Beyond that, most of the cuts will be this year's undrafted free agents.

He is not going anywhere with our offensive line having the reputation of being on IR more than the field.

But Mike Stone is going to be starting by week 6!

I got the feeling after the San Diego game, that Prentice had probably moved ahead of Scobey.

Now whether either of them make the cut will be interesting to see.

My guesses, and they are only guesses:

DT Talifaia Atoe
WR Reggie Newhouse
FB Josh Rue
TE Lorenzo Diamond
DB Rhett Nelson or Robert Cromartie

Won't be long now. First cuts may come Saturday or Sunday.

Hope you're right about Diamond and Rue. Someone deserves a lot of credit for identifying Rue as a prospect and bringing him in when Miami cut him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the roster next season.

Stone is gone because of Q's play. Russell Davis might be a gonner, same said about Tanner. I think Banks will be on the practice squad. Parsons always looks good in Flagstaff because he went to NAU, but then looks iffy in PHX. I think he'll stick. THe little injury that happened to Blake might have the Cards looking at vets, but I doubt it. McAddley is not reliable, but he's not going anywhere. Atoe won't make it.

Skorp: I think they will keep starkey - at least until roundtree or garcia (suspension) can play..the main reason he gets a roster spot is that he can play center, guard and tackle...so they will probably keep him for that reason.. Someone like a starkey or bush should figure out how to be a very good long snapper and we can get rid of hoedel..but we will not.

Surprise Cuts

Skorp, I didn't whiff on McAddley, Wells and Rhinehart because I don't believe they will be cut. I simply put them out there to generate some interest. From all I've read the team seems to like Starkey and was surprised to hear from the radio show (Dave's) that it looks/sounds like Kasper is on the bubble. Maybe the team wants to keep Walker so it won't look like they gave Jones away. Also, the East Valley Tribune indicates that the team is interested in Dalton (DT) from the Broncos, although Graves denies the report.
