Skorp, I didn't whiff on McAddley, Wells and Rhinehart because I don't believe they will be cut. I simply put them out there to generate some interest. From all I've read the team seems to like Starkey and was surprised to hear from the radio show (Dave's) that it looks/sounds like Kasper is on the bubble. Maybe the team wants to keep Walker so it won't look like they gave Jones away. Also, the East Valley Tribune indicates that the team is interested in Dalton (DT) from the Broncos, although Graves denies the report.

Updating previous reports, Mark Maske, of the Washington Post, reports the Washington Redskins passed on a chance to trade for Denver Broncos DT Lional Dalton. The Broncos apparently agreed to trade Dalton to another team.

Unless we are the other team dalton already has a home.

...To Lionel Dalton. The Donkeys have a long history of overpaying for really bad defensive tackles. Denver's already pretty shallow at DT, and they're just trying to pass off their garbage like it's crown jewels.

I really hope it wasn't us.

The game has evolved beyond being a good LS. 31 of the 32 teams have exclusive LS because its a skill position. Many have tried to learn it, to give themselves an advantage . Only a handful have mastered it.

That is something I've never understood, but it's true. If I was a backup O-lineman on the bubble for getting cut, I'd spend everyday after practice practicing long snaps. It would almost guarantee you a roster spot if you can do long snaps.

I will tell you something else. I think Kickers in high school and college should also learn to excel at punting and be able to do both very well. The next wave IMO will be the one player=kicking game specialist. It saves a roster spot and it would ultimately save some money on the cap IMO.

True. There have been a few punters who would also serve as the long distance kickoff guy, but not too many that also did field goals. That would help save a roster spot.

I wish the NFL would just expand the rosters to 56 players. There are so many injuries today with today's size and speed. It seems so many teams are always shorthanded with the roster limit what it is. I don't get the inactive list on game days either where 4 or 5 guys can't even suit up. That seems stupid to me.

Inactive List

Houdini, right on about the Inactive list. Why are eight people inactive on gameday? It doesn't make sense.

There are 53 guys on the team....only 48 can play on game day. If you make the game trip, I do not understand the sense of not making everyone eligible to play, They are all going to get paid.

Inactive List

Unless it changed this year only 45 (plus an emergency QB) are active on gameday, I believe.

Some expectations for draft picks in this city are a little high. By not having anyone established ahead of him, and demanding success right now, you're setting him up for failure.

you think expectations are high in THIS city? omg. you've never been outta az, have you?

No, not for the team; but for individual players? Yeah. When Thomas Jones came to town (and I'm a Jones apologist), when he didn't run like Freddie Jones, he was booed and hated right away. It was ridiculous how the fans in this city never gave him a chance.

If #1 picks don't come out looking like Randy Moss or LT, the "hard core" fans jump all over them. From the report like Jurecki's, it sounds like people are expecting him to catch 80 balls for 1200 yards and eight TDs as a rook, and that's just not going to happen. Boldin is going to get more PT than him, and more looks/balls, because B.J. was going to be a developmental project from the start. Personally, I expect Travis Taylor-like production from him over his career. He's not DB (from 01), he's not Randy, he's not T.O. He's more like Mushin Muhummad.

Because this team's not very good, and hasn't been for a while, fans expect first-rounders, no matter how high or low their draft status, to make an immediate impact for the team. Pace was forced into a starting position because of KVB, but if KVB was playing, people would be begging to "bring out the Pace". This team would never be able to do something like the Jets did with Pennington: just sit the player for two years until he's ready.
