I just wasted 5 minutes reading the realgm board.

What's the average age over there -- 12?

He'd be a good player to add if we didn't have Marion/Diaw/Jones at the 3 already. How the hell is he gonna get any PT? If we sign him, there had better be a trade in the works for a big (like Jones for Gadzuric, or something)....

I'm still having trouble understanding what Jumaine Jones is about. I'm not saying he can't play, just that his stats don't jump out and say "this guy is going to be great pickup".

Last season he averaged 10.5 ppg, but shot only 40.5% from the field and 34.3% for three. He averaged 4.9 rpg, but at just .178 per minute he's hardly a dominant force. His career stats are not much better: 7.3 ppg, 42.7% from the field, 35% for three and .2 rpm. In any case, he has not made a big enough impression anywhere to stay put long:

99-01 Philadelphia
01-03 Cleveland
03-04 Boston
04-05 Lakers
05-06 Charlotte

I'm not saying he can't play. I just haven't heard any specifics to make me think he's hugely better than this stats.

Ah, but those twelve-year-olds are from all over the world. Did you see the ones insulting each other in Hebrew on page 3? They must be bilingual!

Anyway, there's one piece of information in that thread that seems pretty solid, which is that Jumaine Jones' agent is talking with teams in Israel. Since the Suns should be on Jumaine like white on rice, it also means there should be a decent chance he'll take their $1.6m and be the Suns' 10th man next season.

All they have to do is keep reminding him he might blow up (in the not-so-good way) if he plays for Maccabi or Tel Aviv this year. ;)

BTW, you'll love Jumaine if the Suns are lucky enough to get him. He's a bit like Walter McCarty or Devean George, but the Suns would be signing him when he's 27 (and useful) instead of having to wait until he's 31 or 32 (and teetering on the brink of forced retirement).

JJ is damn small for a PF/C, but all that means is that D'Antoni might actually play him.

Exactly.

The need is at the big position. Not the wings or at guard.

Guards - Nash, Banks, Bell, Barbosa

Wings - Jones, Marion, Diaw, Polish Rifle,

Bigs - Amare, KT, Marks, Burke

Given KT's recent injury (which is the worst injury of his relatively injury free career) and age and the fact that Amare is coming off of 2 knee surgeries and Colangelo is now readily admitting Amare won't be 100%, a competent big is needed.

And that is not Marks or Burke.

Guys like Elden Campbell, Zendon Hamilton, Kelvin Cato, Andrew DeClerq, Vladimir Stepania, and Marcus Haislip would all seem adequate minimum type signings for guys that could contribute a little better than Burke/Marks.

Jumaine Jones would fit very easily into the power forward spot on the Suns. He's also a player who will benefit a lot from this system. I predict that if he plays for the Suns, his percentages will go way up. There aren't a lot of open looks for guys like him on teams like the Bobcats.

Apparently Jumaine Jones may be in talks to play with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

As is Dermarr Johnson.

Here's the Jones part:

Another player Maccabi is looking at is Jumaine Jones, a 27-year-old small forward who played last season for the Charlotte Bobcats, averaging 10.5 points and 4.9 rebounds.

"Jones is an talented athletic player who knows how to shoot and pass," Spahija said. "He could be very suited to Europe and a worthy replacement for Maceo Baston."

they do have interest but it appears that the Maccabi coach has said he has choosen the suns but again only rumours

Jones shot 40% from three two years ago for the lakers and if he joined the suns you can count on that % being around that here

think we could do with jones as a gunner to replace eddie house

Assuming Jumaine's three point stats with the Lakers are not a one year fluke, he could compete with James Jones for the ninth man slot. If not, he's competing with Marks and Pike for garbage time.
