anybody getting sold on rolle?

Wolfley said today he didn't think Rolle can play safety because of his lack of speed and his tackling. He has to be better than Holt.

My 19 month old son is better than Holt....

Not according to everything I've seen, heard or read. Wolfley and Pasch seem to think he's missed an excessive number of tackles this season and I've seen him whiff on more than one occasion trying to make the big hit rather than the sure tackle. Wolfley said today he feels he'd be a failure at sfaety due to his poor tackling.

Wolfley is an absolute moron and Pasch is puss. Rolle is an above average tackler and if he was too slow to play safety he would be out of football because he isn't big enough to play LB. FWIW, Sean Taylor was the best safety in the league IMO and he has lead the league in missed tackles the past few years. The FS position requires gambles. The great ones make enopugh big plays to outweigh the inevitable mistrakes.

It's simple
Rolle can cover, and out tackle AW, and a better after the catch runner, since AW does not want to play for the Cards anymore. Trade the bastard, get something out of the jerk and Rolle is your next all pro safety. SIMPLE....move on next problem please!

Not sold on him as a high draft pick. Sold on him as a sub-package safety/cornerback, which would still make him an enormous bust and waste of a draft pick. It's like if Wendell Bryant flopped as a DT but was really good at blocking field goals in his third season in the league.

He's a guy who won't kill you if you run him out there, but I don't think he's made the argument that you have to find a way to get him on the field. Aaron Francisco made a lot of plays last season as a 3rd safety, and that seems to be the way that Pendergast has been using Rolle.

Wilson plays Strong Safety, the Cards should move Rolle to Free Safety. Both can be on the field at the same time.

AW is not going anywhere and he'll have to wait until next year to 2009 for a new contract.

If I remember correctly that was one of the knocks on Adrian Wilson early in his career.

But Rolle is an excellent tackler for a DB imo. I've seen him make many solid tackles over the last 3 seasons.

As for Wolfley, you have to remember how many wedges he ran into and take anything he says with a grain of salt.

Agree that Rolle's tackling is solid.

I'm not an xs and os guy, but it sure seems to me like AR is no-brainer move to FS. Absolute no brainer.

Rolle is a Pro Bowl Free Safety. Just put him there for the love of God. I'm tired of listening to abomb chant about how much rolle sucks during games.

Seriously, how does that guy keep his job? Half the things he says makes me wonder if he's ever even seen a Cardinal Game. Rolle is slightly slow for a corner, he's a blazer for a free safety. Rolle is a lot faster then Wolfey thinks he is. As for his tackling, that's Rolle's specialty. Rolle used to have a problem wrapping up the runner in the open field, but he's clearly worked hard on that and has made strides in that area.

Antrel Rolle has pro bowl safety written all over him. Considering our other option is Terrance Holt who is literally the worst starting safety in football, we're foolish if we don't give Rolle a shot at FS. I want to see Antrel Rolle succeed, and I want it to be as a Cardinal. People bag on him about his attitude and taking plays off, but I think it's all crap.

#21 is all heart. Give him the shot, he'll get it done. Consider me sold on Rolle, I like the kid.. flat out.

Ditto, I think we'll be surprised at how good this D can be next year without many additions. Just re-sign Dansby and Pace, get healthy and move Rolle to FS. With an addition of a rd1 defensive player and maybe a mid level FA like D.Florence we can be a SOLID top 10 D next year no question

For the record, I heard the comment by Wolfley today, and he did NOT question Rolle's tackling ability. He questioned his athleticism and his instincts. That was it... He didn't dwell on it. Frankly, prior to this game today, Rolle had one good game all year, with the rest being bad to really bad games.

Call it conflict in view, I just find I generally disagree with 90% of what he says and he strikes me as a self professed expert. He can be funny sometimes though, I enjoy some of his comments, I just don't normally agree with him.

For the record, I don't think Rolle is all that fast, I just think that he's "fast enough." He could be a lot faster, but I think he's got enough to get the job done. Of course, that again is just opinion. On that note, good to see some people coming out in support of Rolle. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Well, nobody's perfect... But I have to say that I actually enjoy listening to Wolfley... I'm at the games in many times I'll bring a radio to tune into the call from KTAR. I think Wolf is very, very funny and usually pretty spot on with his analyses...

As for Rolle, I think his knee injury really st him back. I think he was 10x faster when he came out of school... Still, I'd love to see him get a shot at FS...

I agree on the 2nd pick by Rolle. Played center field and made the play. Isnt that what Holt is supposed to do. Oh yea, he sucks. Rolle has the foot speed to do this, he just cant keep up with speed , or quick change of direction Wr's. Let him play FS in the OTS's, and TC, and see where it goes. It cant be worse than Holts performance this year.

Rolle will be the starting FS next season. He will have a decent year. His following year will be pro-bowl level, and then he will make multiple pro-bowls.
