I like the new additions, looks like they made it alott like Madden. Not sure if I am going to buy it today or not. I was thinking of waiting until ESPN comes out and renting them first. Last year Live was better than Sega's, but it maybe close this year. I bought both last year.

I think the NBA2k series is alot more sim then Live. I scored like 140 points with MArion scoring evrytime on NBA Live. NBA2k3 is a great Sim to real b-ball you control alot more than live.

True but what realy pissed me off last year was the slow game play of 2k3 and how every time the PG on the other team was able to dribble past my D and if I tryed that I would get the ball taken away.

Agreed that is what got me hooked on 2k from live, but I was very disappointed from last years game, I hoping for the same game play and they completly changed it :(

I bought it yesterday for X-Box I like the game play so for I will give the good and the bad so far.

Good:
Nice new drive feature - you can take it to the hole with a one hoper and then finish it off with a dunk.

I like how you can change the game speed with a slid bar to make it just right.

Like Madden you can pre set a your favorite team.

You can buy new gear with your EA points like : Shoes, Unis for your team, and other stuff.

You can finally trade draft picks.

Bad:
The Training SUCKS!!!! all it is you select a training mode and watch the team practice. YOu don't even get to participate.

The players look to big for the screen. They don't have to jump up far to dunk the ball

I still wish EA would use better info for the salaries the players make. Instead of 256k a year for Marion just say 15.6Mil.

I got Live 04. Pretty sweet if you ask me......
Things I like:
Ability to trade draft picks in dynasty

Game Play!
- more realistic
- seperate buttons for layup/dunk or jump shot (although in the heat of gameplay i've thrown up a finger roll from the 3pt line)
- easier to contest shots around the basket

More spread out player rankings (Instead of all good players being in the 90s you have superstars in the 90s, All stars in the 80s, good players in the 70s, role players 60s... etc. Ex. TD is only a 92) Its not suprising to see a guy in the 50s starting as opposed to last years game where if you had a starter with a 70 ranking, you were looking to upgrade.

You can create a Charlotte Bobcats team. Unfortunately you cant have an expansion draft in dynasty or anything.

You can use points you earn in game to buy training sessions for your players or team. Or you can use them to hire an assistant coach which also helps rankings.

Just a couple of things I have noticed after playing the game for a couple of times.

I have Live 2004 for the xbox and I wasn't impressed. I only played 2 games but the gameplay just seemed much worse than the Sega 2K series. ESPN NBA 2K4 should be out next week and I'll be getting that. I'm just glad I don't have to pay for games. :)

Well it's not system link compatible and I didn't think any of the EA sports games where xbox live compatible so I don't think you can play NBA Live 2004 online. If it was system link compatible (like Halo) then you could play it online using a program like xbconnect or xlink.

ESPN NBA BAsketball (aka Sega NBA 2K4) is on it's way to stores right now and it definately has xbox live compatibility and has historically had much better gameplay than the NBA Live series.

That's the one I'm getting. NBA 2k2 was the best basketball game I've ever played.

I still might buy them both again. I will rent ESPN and see which one is better and would be willing to sell my Live.

I rented NBA Live 2004 yesterday.

It is def. improved from last year's version. The defense is much better and more realistic. I like the two different shot buttons and the jump stop/drop step move although it will take a little getting used to.

I like the graphics and player movements / controls better in NBA Live but the NBA 2K3 was a better basketball simulation. Live has made strides with the game pace slider and other adjustments. NBA 2K3 still has many more adjustments than Live 2004 has.

I will be interested to try the ESPN 2K4 game.
