Anyone else getting concerned one of the top QBs won't be there at #13?

I'm getting more and more worried as we get closer, and the rumors become more clear and intense, that there's a chance Mahomes, Watson, and Trubisky are all gone before we even get a chance to pick. Too many QB needy teams at that spot. I feel that Kizer has fallen, but will still probably get taken before we get a chance to pick at 45, too.

With Cleveland looking to even possibly move up for a QB at this point, SF desperate, and the Jets still in front of us with a Browns swap, I'm worried we won't even get a chance and will again be stuck with a bare cupboard at QB.

Nope cause we have Palmer and Stanton - Stanton can start next year and beyond and will probably be better than any QB in this class - not a top 10 QB but not the crap we started after We cut Leinart like a big stupid.

I am not concerned one of the top predicted QBs will not be there... I am concerned that the QB BASK approves of will not be there

Relax no QBs are bpa at 13 and it's all smoke and mirrors - Keim passed on better QBs later in years gone by, will again- BA would rather kiss frogs and see if they will turn into a prince, anyhow- BASK will go with Stanton next year before he drafts mainstream - just not the way they are built.

Why reach for QB's with second round grades in a draft heavy with 'D' talent, which we also need?

Because the QB position is the most important, QB talent is all underdeveloped now due to the college game, other teams need a QB as always and the second round talent at the position has become the new first round talent

Because we're one year away from absolute emptiness and nothing at the QB position. We can draft an insurance policy now that is still highly talented, groom them for a year, coach out the issues that they struggle with, and contend for years to come, rather than just accepting that 2018 is going to be a lost cause and we're not going to win.

This is a deep draft at the D positions that we need, and we can shore up our holes in the 2nd and 3rd round at those spots.

We need to plan ahead.

Edit: Not to mention, we won't have a chance at the "better" QBs in next year's draft class unless we have a catastrophic year. Or we can pay Garoppolo or Cousins $100 million and not be able to sign other players for guys that might just be middle of the road.

I'm not. I believe they will go for a Riddick, Foster, Conley with their 13th pick, then stay at 45 or move up and get Kizer.

I would exchange concerned with hoping.

My concern is that BASK would actually trade up from #13 to get one.

Pretty rosy picture of this year's QB class, my friend. But, I fail to see one worth #13.

And paying $25m per year for an NFL ready QB does not prevent the team from extending their own or seeking support in FA given the constant rise of the CAP.

P.S... why do you think Keim is creating so much CAP space for 2018?

I'm not worried about anything in the draft, really, other than that the FO will reach again and go for projects trying to prove they're the smartest guys in the room. I usually am heavily backing one particular prospect, or several of them, but not this year.

How soon do you see them being "worth" it?

I don't want to pay $25 million per for a guy that has never played in our offense and has played three NFL games. Have we forgotten Kevin Kolb already? I don't want to pay $25 million for a guy whose team desperately needs a quarterback and has had six years to decide whether or not he's worth it in their system that has finally given up and let him go to market. And I even really like Cousins, but come on. He's just not worth the money.

Remember, the cap increases for everyone, it's not like we're coming up on hidden money that other teams don't have - as the cap increases, so do player contracts. Cousins or Garoppolo, if they hit the market, are probably going to be close to, if not paid as, the highest paid QB of all time.

We're pushed up against the cap this year because of Carson's number, and you have teams like the Colts saying they can't afford to add more quality players because so much is going to Luck. And Garoppolo and Cousins aren't Luck. I don't want to pay the likes of Ryan Tannehill what he's making, or what Joe Flacco is making, for production I think we can get from one of these rookie QBs at a major discount for the next five years.

He's probably saving all of that money for 2018 because we only have two of our top 5 receivers under contract for next year, one of which will likely retire. And two of our entire linebacking corps under contract. And one QB that is also probably going to retire.

Not worried at all. In fact, I hope all 3 go before 13. That means there is a better player for the Cards to choose when they pick.

+1

This draft is getting hyped, but it is more about the fact the draft experts are so divided on who goes where.

Outside of that, it is a deep draft, but nothing special. Same situation as always, teams get to choose some players, some will be good players, and some will be bad.

The Cardinals could pick a QB and he is the answer, or he could be a bust, but no more than any LB, CB, S, or what have you, and not more in the 1st round than the 7th.

I hope they're all gone. Let Hooker drop to us, I dare you...:)

I'd be just fine with that.

Yep. I wouldn't be mad at taking a QB, but I'd be fine having those QBs selected so we can get better talent at another position.

In my dream scenario Watson, Kizer, Trubisky are not available and the Cards are left to pick from Mahomes/Webb.

I really wish we could have moved back and acquired a 1st round pick for next year, because it seems like teams overpaid for a QB. It would have been nice to have that kind of ammo going into next year's QB-loaded draft. This year? Those guys will all be out of the League in 5 years.
