holy moly, its tomorrow? I didn't realize how soon it was coming up, I knew it was the 14th but not tomorrow already. I'm ready to cry either way. We either get the #1 or #6 are my bets.

You guys gotta be more optimistic I'll tell you exactly how this off-season will go. We'll get the number 1 pick and get Zion, then we will trade JJ and 2 future 1st to the Knicks for second so they can use it to get AD, at #2 we pick Barret but the Hawks want him so they exchange #3 morant and there Dallas pick at #9 for Barret, then at #9 we decide we aren't done with guards and get Coby white, next we trade Warren and the bucks pick for #14 to the Lakers who need shooters and have no hope in getting any big names and we use #14 to pick PJ Washington for Zions backup. Free agency we get Derrick Rose as a good team friend 1-2 year deal to help transition to morant and resign oubre and Holmes.

Rose/morant
Booker/white
Oubre/bridges
Zion/Washington
Ayton/Holmes

Then just sit back and watch the birth of the next great basketball dynasty :)

That team with a single shooter (Booker) should be great....

the scenario is of course absurd but that team should do decently well

we need to go away from chasing NBA trends. Some good teams this year were shooting among the fewest 3s. The playoffs show that the game is slowed down a lot. There is no reason you can't win playing a slow pace.

- We have two efficient scorers in the half court in Booker and Ayton.
- We are a young team and make more mistakes than other teams so increasing the amount of possessions per game is bad for us

Maybe the biggest mistake from Watson and Igor is that they tried to play fast and wanted young players to play fast.

If you were responding to my fictional scenario there that team would have more then one shooter, white was one of the best shooters in college last year, Morant can hit 3s, PJ Washington was over 40 Percent from threes , I just thought I'd post an imaginary off-season that I had a dream about the other night ha. Can't say you wouldn't be happy if that some how happened

I like the dream and the plan in general although I'd disagree with Rose. I wouldn't take him if they gold plated him and covered him in diamonds. If ever a player has proved that it's all about the money, it's Rose and that's the last thing I'd want around Ayton.

Well I'm not a huge fan of his either but I thought I'd throw one realistic possibility into this dream scenario since I could see them getting him

Makes sense but I think I could do without "realistic" if that's the only possibility. Maybe we could offer TJ McConnell or another quality vet backup a one year overpay?

I would take Rose. I think he is the perfect vet for this team. I think he has been through a lot. He seems humbled some.

I trying to psych myself up for the the lottery and be optimistic but here is a refresher on the reality.

With the new lottery odds going into effect today, Phoenix has a 27.4% chance of staying in the top two but a 47.9% chance of falling to five or lower.

top 3 is all what matters

Barrett is probably a better prospect than Morant anyway.

I would be kind of surprised if any team other than us or Chicago takes Morant at 2.

Barrett has shown enough playmaking skills that you would believe that a team with Booker and Barrett has enough playmaking to to get by with a PG that makes some 3s and defends and does not contribute much in terms of playmaking.

Apparently Barret wants to be a point forward type player so it could work he has the talent, I wouldn't be upset if the sun's got him but wouldn't be that excited either based on our needs

I'm good with the third pick. Not only is there a chance that Morant falls to 3, but Barrett gives that pick very good trade value. I would think a trade package including the #3 pick could get you a LOT more than a package including the #4 pick.

I think Barrett, more than most incoming rookies, needs to land in the right spot. If Pop (for example) ended up with him I think he could become a first team all NBA player in a few years. If he lands in Minnesota, he could be the next Wiggins. If we get him we can only hope we are closer to a Spurs type franchise than Minnesota although the past several years suggests otherwise. Still, Monty gives us a fresh start hopefully.

I think Barrett would be a nice trade piece. Not sure what useful player out there is available that we could get, but I would certainly take Barrett if he is available and Zion and Ja are gone. Of course, Steve Nash thinks Barrett can be an NBA distributor.

I think in some years Barrett wouldn't go in the top 7 but in this draft, he's clearly top 3 right now. The comments from Nash ease my concerns some but RJ often seemed to put himself above his teammates (especially Zion) which would worry me a bit at the next level. Still, if we end up at 3 and can't get top 3 value in a trade, he's the best pick IMO.

Why do I have the sinking feeling we are going to drop like a lead balloon in this lottery?

Because odds are pretty good that we will.

I try to convince myself that getting the number 1 pick last year was the pinnacle and everything else is gravy.

Still I want at least the 2 pick.
