Hoping that Beanie Wells has some sort of breakout game this sunday? Before the season started, I had high hopes for this guy. I don't think I was alone expecting him to have a breakout year. The cardinals run game, or lack of, have been incredibly disappointing this year. Beanie whined for my carries, and he got them and produced very little. Right now this team has more holes than a piece of swiss cheese, but a W this weekend would sure put me in a good mood.

I'm actually a Whis supporter bigtime and still believe "In Whis we trust". That being said it's his fault our run game is so poor. I'll get this first part out of the way: no matter how you slice it, Hightower is in the doghouse because of his fumbles. And I think Whiz's doghouse is a major one, like it's not even attached to the same land as the grown-up house, it's down the block and across the street sitting next to some rusted shed.

The more significant point though is Beanie, and Whis royally messed that up by keeping him in the preseason game in which he injured his knee--you know, the one where he got hurt in the 3rd quarter playing against scrubs. He subsequently had surgery and then swelling, and then severe swelling due to inflammation problems with his medication. His game hasn't been right all year, due to his body never being right all year. That falls on Whiz.

What that's done, to our team, as incredible as it may sound, is turn it one dimensional so that the QB is the focus of this team. There's no denying it. We have no running game and haven't all year. If I were the opponent--and it's obvious they're doing this--I'd continue to stack the box and take any chance of a running game away and I'd make Derek Anderson beat me. He may get lucky and score a touchdown, maybe even 2--and holy cow would that be a sight--but he's also going to throw a pick and get sacked 5 times and possibly fumble.

That's what Whisenhunt has done to this team, made it one-dimensional and predictable.

It has to be health with Beanie. You don't go from the RB he was at the end of last year to what he's been this year without health issues. I'm not expecting much out of him the rest of this year. Next year is going to be the key year in his career. He's either going to step up and be the guy, by staying healthy, or he going to slide into the abyss of journeyman RB likley be a career backup/ spot starter type guy, see Darren McFadden.

I agree the pre-season injury could have been avoided but that's just part of the game. Wells probably needed some work and it happened. That stuff happens all the time. Would it really have made things better if it happened in the 1st quarter?
