No bomb threat. Stadium was evacuated due to "out of place" object.

The new Cardinals Stadium in Glendale was evacuated Friday afternoon after an employee saw something “out of place” in the nearly completed football stadium, officials said.

The Glendale Fire Department was conducting a search and investigation at the stadium.

Officials aren’t releasing details about what type of object the employee saw.

The new stadium doesn't officially open until next month.

I was there for a tour today.

Just as we were about to start they evacuated the entire building. This was around 2pm.

I'm so pissed.

Heads better role!

:bang:

At least I got to wait in the 115 Degree heat for 20 minutes!

I overheard someone say that they found a thurmos with wires hanging out of it. Not sure if that is accurate or not.

The fire department was there when I arrived at around 9:30am. Looked to me like they were just getting the lay of the land just in case there ever was an issue. More or less like a tour.....

That was pretty well planned to have all of the Glendale firefighters there, then leave an "object" out of place.

I call shananigans.:nono:

No way. The cops looked really serious. They were not letting people back in at 3:45pm and I had to take my friends wife home because she left her keys at her desk.

I highly doubt this was an exercise.

True. I did notice a bunch of them standing around with us initially. They looked just as annoyed to be standing in the heat as we did.

Water jug causes scare at Cards stadium

The Arizona Republic
Jul. 14, 2006 05:06 PM

The Arizona Cardinals Stadium was briefly evacuated Friday afternoon after an employee saw something "out of place" in the nearly completed football stadium, officials said.

Glendale police and firefighters, using a water cannon, later determined the suspicious object was a harmless water jug wrapped with duct tape, said Officer Matt Barnett, a Glendale police spokesman.

They remained at the stadium for more than two hours before making the all-clear determination, Barnett said.

The new $455 million sports facility officially opens Aug. 12 with a preseason football matchup between the Cardinals and the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

Yeah, likewise, you dont know me either, but you are suggesting we planted a "suspicious package" for the sake of evacuating everyone for a drill?

Drugs or insane...

Believe me, having a drill in the middle of the afternoon in July is the last thing we want to do, or would ever do.

You called shananigans....
