The Arizona Cardinals Stadium was briefly evacuated Friday afternoon after an employee saw something "out of place" in the nearly completed football stadium, officials said.
Glendale police and firefighters, using a water cannon, later determined the suspicious object was a harmless water jug wrapped with duct tape, said Officer Matt Barnett, a Glendale police spokesman.
They remained at the stadium for more than two hours before making the all-clear determination, Barnett said.
The new $455 million sports facility officially opens Aug. 12 with a preseason football matchup between the Cardinals and the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
