Anyone think Amare's Rebounding Numbers are weak lately?

With the amount of strength and his jumping ability I am a little disappointed with his re3bounding numbers.

I agree.

He needs to be averaging a double-double for rebounds and points - be at least a 20-10 player.

He should. I don't get the feeling that he has good anticipation. He grabs balls that are in his area, but has no clue where the ball is going to go when it is shot. At the same time, I'm not sure he is trying as hard as he did last year.

I thought Amare Stoudemire had a very nice game tonight, but you are right about his rebounding. He should be doing much more on the boards.

I had to wrk during the game, but from what I have noticed is Amare relies to much on his athleticism to get boards.

In other words, he thinks he can just jump over everyone in order to get it. He never tries to establish position or box out the other team. I dont care how tall you are, or how high you can jump, it is hard to get a lot of boards that way.

I think you are on target.

Dice noted during an interview about a month ago that rebounding is mostly about anticipation and positioning rather than size and leaping. It would be interesting if he is actually getting healthy for him to show Amare what that is all about.

Amare's jumper is weak! If he could develop atleast a midrange jumper or a baseline Charles Barkley jumper...he would be unstoppable

Amare has hit some of his midrange jumpers, but you are right in concluding it is not a high percentage shot yet.

Maybe Amare is trying to run out on the break too much--or maybe he's going for too many blocked shots, or possibly he's taking too many 'rebounds' out of the net instead of off the rim?

Seriously, I'm more mystified than any of you, since I can't even see most of the games.

I haven't seen Amare finish on the break lately, but his emphasis on blocked shots might be a reason. However, I think the main problem is just focus and anticipation. 90% of all rebounds are due to positioning rather than heigth and leaping. Rodman was an extraordinary leaper, but he had fantastic anticipation and total focus.
