Do you guys really think that the browns are going to go into the season with Jamal Lewis being there only running back? Romeo is in a win now situation with the team, so it's unlikely that the browns are going to draft a QB this year for the future. They need a player that can step in and help them win games right away.

The only problem with that is that Phil Savage makes the call on draft day and he's going to go QB,if available. I think they are content with a Jamal Lewis/Jerome Harrison combo this year and next year they should be in position to get McFadden if they so desire. Also, don't count out Antonio Pittman as a 2nd round choice.

AzWins23, do you think that Cleveland goes into the season with Charlie Fry at QB? I think I'd rather have a combo of Quinn/Russell-Lewis, than Fry-AP. So I guess I'm saying that AP has a pretty good chance of being there at #5.

Thank you. Why fans continually believe that coaches on the hot seat have much to say about taking a franchise QB or not is baffling...it's not Romeo's call.

Just like it wasn't Denny Green's call, right? Do you have some inside information as to why you do think that Romeo has no draft decision making?

The one thing that gives me pause in a scenario with the Browns taking Peterson is in their recent memory is the Lee Suggs (a very talented back who could never stay healthy) and William Green (a very talented back who couldn't get his head on straight) fiascos.

I think a smart team tries not to factor those in to their thought process because the past is the past, but I'm sure it will come up in discussions...the question is: how much weight or merit will it have?

I think the Clowns take AP at 3rd, and pick up a guy like Troy Smith or Kevin Kolb in later rounds.

Huh uh, niiiice try. It was very well publicised that Green got a lot of leeway in who we took. Unless you have some information about Crennel having extra say in personnel than a normal coach (as we had here with Green) then you haven't got a leg to stand on. If you do, then I'll back down, but I hear sooo many times that so-and-so won't take a QB because he's on the hot seat. Well, Coach X doesn't draft the players, so it doesn't really matter if he is in the hot seat or not. A simple step in logic that many people fail to acknowledge.

I don't know..It's going to be hard to see the Browns passing on AP, when they could get there home town hero Troy Smith in the later rounds.

If he is still available, they will take JaMarcus no questions asked. Yes that has been publicised. I am no expert by any stretch on Cleveland football, but a buddy of mine is and he says that the organization was really high on a young guy they had. My guess is that he was talking about Harrison, but I honestly can't remember the name.

Personally, I think selecting AP would be nothing more than a way to put butts in the seats for the Brown's home games. He is not going to singlehandedly win games for you (not enough to dramatically improve that team anyway) so why waste a high pick on him. The average time that a dominent rb stays dominents is about four years. I see no way that the Browns could use a first on him this year and be anywhere near good enough to compete for a SB in four years. Who cares if you have one of the best runningbacks in the game if the rest of your team sucks. If Quinn is available they should sprint to the podium. If not, I would take Thomas.

Crennel has no say in who the Brwons select. He can have some input as to who he likes but has nothing in the final say. In fact,if Tressel would've taken the job last year, Crennel wouldn't even be there and likely this is his last year in Cleveland. Savage is going to be around and is going to take what he feels is best for the Browns. If it's AP it was still Savage's call.
