New #AZCardinals OL @aqshipley can play both center and guard. This is his third tour with @BruceArians, having played with him in PIT, IND.

Never seen him play. Hope he turns out to be a good rotational player.

Probably can cut sendlein now and have this guy play center for 1/3 the cost :)

again, while PFF rankings over a realtive small sample size arent the final word, he did have a solid positive grade overall from last year

every report I read about his being demoted expressed suprise

Arians knows enough guys from Indy that i wouldnt think its an off field or bad lockeroom guy kind of thing

SIGNING! Not only is A.Q. Shipley breaking news, he’s just signed with the Cardinals. He’ll compete for a starting spot across the interior and at the very least end up as a valuable backup given his versatility. We’ve liked his work at center over the years but he’s struggled to generate the kind of playing time to really impress. In 2014 he turned his 386 snaps at center into a solid +4.5 grade and that number should have Lyle Sendlein sweating a bit given his down year last season (-29.1 grade).

According to the Colts fan's comments in that article, Shipley was good (not great) at center and awful as a guard. Maybe they are moving Sendelein.
Exactly, not great but far from the dumpster fire that some people are making him out to be. I would have to imagine he is an upgrade over Sendlein and could be the starter barring a highly drafted center or another center being signed in free agency.

Just read every scouting report I could find on him coming out of the draft and they pretty much unanimously projected him as a center only. They all said smart, very strong at the point of attack and good in pass pro, BUT because of his short height and short arms he would be a disaster at guard.

So, I'm really hoping he's not being brought in to play RG, and I'm REALLY hoping Coop can get it together this year and secure that position. The line would be set for years.

He may be an RFA. If so, the Colts could match.
I could be wrong, but I don't think that is how the NFL works. Being restricted means that you can put a tender on a player and depending on the tender the signing team would have to give up a pick to get him (I think). That being said I think the Colts declined to put a tender on Shipley.

I can only guess he will be a backup. I hope they are still going to sign Stephen Wisnewski to play center.

Depends on the size of his contract. If they are still chasing Wiz, then they must really be planning to clean house, as in the whole interior line being given pink slips. Bye Larsen, Sendlein, Fanaika.
