Aquinas is one win away from its first New York state title in girls basketball.
The Lil Irish take on Section VIII's Baldwin in the NYSPHSAA Class AA final on Sunday. Aquinas, the Section V champion, is riding a 21-game win streak.
The Lil Irish dominated its state semifinal matchup against Warwick-IX on Saturday, leading from start to finish. Molly O'Toole led all scorers in that game with 19 points, while AJ Orr added a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Baldwin's semifinal wasn't so one-sided. The two-time New York state championships held off Catholic Central-2 by a seven-point margin, to reach their second state final in four years. Their last appearance, in 2022, was also against a private parochial school from Section V, as Bishop Kearney captured the state title.

The state tournament is held at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.
