Been awfully quiet on that front.
I have no doubt they're trying... But, as Towers has said, they're not going to cough up their young talent in order to simply make a move. Could mean that we're stuck with what we have. Just wish there was a logical move to dump CY and pick up something of quality in return (preferably @ first or third base)...
I am favor of not making a move if it means holding on to our young talent (unless we get someone that is not a 2 month rental)
And then who would you put at CF?
CY is the least of the team's problems. Outfield is actually pretty well set. It is contributions from the infield that is killing the team.
Gotta give up something to get something... In that context, CY fits the bill! And, I would put Parra in CF. Parra has a higher avg (.285 vs .253). Higher OBP (.380 vs .327), and strikes out less (1 in 5.3 at-bats vs 1 in 4.5 at-bats). He's even got a better arm than CY!!![]()
Does he have CY's range? I am really asking. Don't know.Gotta give up something to get something... In that context, CY fits the bill! And, I would put Parra in CF. And then hand LF to Cowgill?

Range in the outfield. OPS? Slugging? He's as fast, if not faster than CY...![]()
Range in the outfield. OPS? Slugging?
That would surprise me.I believe most would agree that his range is equal to that of CY.
OPS
Young: .782 Parra: .764
Slugging
Young: .455 Parra: .411
That would surprise me.
That would surprise me.
I would be surprised if anyone on here agreed with you about CY. Playing left field not playing center. Duh.Some evidence to Parra's defensive prowess:
Gardner’s defensive value is what carries him to that sort of rating. Last season, he finished third among leftfielders with 13 Defensive Runs Saved, a stat devised by Baseball Info Solutions (BIS) that combines a fielder’s ability to turn batted balls into outs, along with his skill at deterring baserunner advancement. This season, Gardner entered Wednesday with 14 Defensive Runs Saved, matching Gerardo Parra for the major league lead.

Collin Cowgill is actually a Center Fielder. His experience is listed as CF/LF.And then hand LF to Cowgill?
Outfield is the least of our worries (minus the fact that our 2nd best Outfielder is in Colorado)...
We need a 1st baseman that is capable of hitting above .200, and we may need a 5th starter, but that is questionable, as Owings looked good.
1st Base PEOPLE! We have hit about .215 there for the season!
Parra does not have the speed or range to cover center full time. He is fine for a spot start but to suggest he has the same range as Young is just plain stupid.
I don't think they're committed to Parra as an everyday player.
Which boggles my mind. Great defense, solid hitter.
What would Hunter Pence do to this lineup?
Move Bonds I mean Upton to left and this offense becomes scary. Especially next year when Drew is back.
