Would love to see Pence here! Just not sure what we'd have to give up to get him... thinking it would be too much...

How much is too much for a 28 year old All Star?

Some of the best deadline deals are for guys you plan to keep indefinitely to help build a contender as opposed to just renting a guy.

I dunno... These type of deal are torturous... I would hate to give up any of our stud pitchers (here and down on the farm).
Maybe a CY, Saunders and a draft pick??

Houston is rebuilding. Saunders will be gone by the time they are rebuilt. They would be looking for our young arms.

To give you an idea what Houston wants for Pence...

Pence, a hustling outfielder with an awkward running style and high batting average, is suddenly very popular on the trade market. The Phillies offered top first base prospect Jonathan Singleton, top pitching prospect Jarred Cosart and a third prospect, only to be rebuffed. But rather than bow out, as initially believed, Philadelphia still appears to be very much in the mix. It seemed possible that the Phillies might even be willing to part with left-handed-hitting outfielder Domonic Brown, long considered their No. 1 prospect and their current rightfielder, although that was unconfirmed.

That's what I was afraid of... I'll say this, if Pence could be turned into a solid First Baseman, I might be more comfy giving up a young arm or two... :D

Agreed. No need to sell the farm for a Dback position of strength.

No way can Parra play CF this year in place of Young. They already tried that experiment and he was awful. He COULD play it next year with a lot of practice, but right now he has no instincts for the position in spite of his athleticism and big arm.

"awful"???? Nonsense... And, if it meant bringing in a legit bat at one of our corner positions, I say DO IT!

I can dream.... it's Friday. :p

If the White Sox are selling I would give up 2 of our top minor league arms+ for Kernerko.

that is weird. Traded for cash. Not doing anything in Seattle.

Actually, never did anything anywhere.

I'm really stumped. It makes no sense in any way I can look at it.

edit: Nevermind, I read this: Filling spots on the AAA roster which has been depleted with the Dbacks calling Allen, Ransom, and Cowgill. Nothing more.

Just remembered I had read Piecoro saying something to that effect a couple days ago.

Moving along.....

Diamondbacks did trade for Jason Marquis per ESPN's Jim Bowden. They gave up Zach Walters SS in the deal.
