With so many great teams, whoever wins it all should go down as one of the greatest teams of all-time. In any other season they would have been remarkable.

If the Suns pull this off, I will die a happy man. Then since I'm in Oklahoma City retire the Suns and move onto our new team next year. Odd but true. What a way to go out for Nash and Shaq. Win it all when the NBA was at it's best ever!

I don't think so. Any team thats usually referred to as a "best team of all time" has to have an above and beyond regular season and it helps to be a part of a dynasty. That proves that your team was great over time, and that particular year (say the 72 win Bulls team), was even extra special.

Now say the Suns just decimate everyone in the playoffs this year (not going to happen) and lose like 1 game per series or less, maybe they'd get into the conversation.

true. maybe one of the toughest roads to the title ever.....for the WC champ this year. somebody brought up houston's 95 team in another thread. that team was 47-35. yet they beat 60 win utah team, a 59 win phoenix team, and a 60 win SA team. then they swept the self proclaimed baddest big player ever to play the game in the finals. if that isn't impressive I don't know what is. yet that team often gets overlooked for some reason. man the NBA had so many great players back then.......those were some good NBA playoff days for me as fan and my mavs stunk. over a decade later I hope they can pull off a similiar upset.

I believe the Mavs will beat the Hornets.

I hope so. I can't say for sure without being biased on my part. the hornets definitely scare me.....but then again so does every other team to include the guys that missed the playoffs.....for obvious reasons LOL. but I just hope that experience takes its part. I don't buy into it that far.....i think once the hornets get those jitters out they will be fine. but it should be a great series. hopefully dirk and the mavs excell at the underdog role.

There is no team like the early 80s Sixers, 80s Lakers, 80s Celtics, or 90s Bulls. It's not even an argument. HOWEVER, I will see this year's Western Conference is probably as good if not better top to bottom than the 1980s Eastern Conference. Which ever WC team gets out alive can be proud. If they go on to beat Boston, no one would be able to diminish the road to the NBA this year like I think we've been able to in the past.

There is no easy road to a championship this year in the West. Not a single playoff matchup that looks more than marginally favorable.

After the way they played them last night.... yeah, they have a shot. Jason Kidd was on fire though. I loved the way that they trapped Paul. It took him completely out of his game. The Suns need to try that. (but won't)

No way, even relative greatness in an era does not ensure a team is one of th greatest. The Russel Celtics were a great team of their era, but in a head to head competition, they probably lose to many teams in the history of the NBA. The rules have changed as well, so absolutes are difficult to assign to teams. It may be the most competitive playoffs ever, maybe.

Hornets will spank the Mavs. It all depends, if JKidd has a good shooting series and if Nowitzki's legs can hold up, they could be threatening.

the mavs have speed at the guard/sf position to hassle CP3. Kidd is a very smart and physical defender, but its Josh Howard(this dude is long and fast, a great defender), and terry(very quick) coming on help that can slow CP3 down. The hornets depend so much on CP3 that any team that can defend him decently has a chance. The hornets have no one who can guard Dirk, not even close. West isnt that good a defender, and Peja is a defensive liability. This matchup favors the mavs in several ways, but kidd will have to make some shots as that will be any teams strategy, make him shoot.

Greatest team debates often are clouded by individual bias. Whoever wins this year will have truly earned it... unlike the Miami Heat team a couple of years ago. Even Detroit and Boston will have earned it since they played the West's best very tough during the regular season.

No matter how this postseason plays out for the Suns, I hope the officiating is decent and relatively fair. Unfortunately, I also know that that's far too much to ask for. My guess is that the later playoff rounds will end up being very disappointing, whether the Suns are involved or not, because it will become clear that the referees have some bizarre agenda that they will use to tilt the playing field dramatically.

I hope you are not suggesting that Lakers vs. Boston will be the fix? Are you? Because we all know that Stern doesn't really care...

I don't believe there are any truly great teams this year, just lots of very good ones, and that is what has made the stretch run so special.

Hopefully this doesnt happen, but the tradition of calling 'em in away that impacts the outcome goes back more than a decade. I can say this though, only recently have game winning shots been taken with a foot out of bounds. The NBA has seemed desperate in the post jordan era to be entertaining and profitable, I guess it just doesnt come naturally anymore. The more they tend to "produce a product", the worse it gets. I will watch, regardless of the suns fate, until the production gets in the way of the competition.

I'm going to say Jordan's Bulls was the best team ever, the one team that Reggie Miller pushed off on Michael Jordan to hit the game winner. I can't remember the year...that was when the Eastern Conference Teams used to be really good.
