I put at #7 or #8 only because there isn't anyone else that stands out a whole lot.

It really depends on how the lottery goes. If people take a bunch of the Euros real early letting some HS players slip, maybe one of them? Im not against packaging the pick away if it is that late though.

At #7 or #8, I'm not sure the pick is even worth keeping. Now, I certainly wouldn't use it to pay off San Antonio, but we might be able to borrow a body for a year for the pick.

To tell you the truth, I dont think he will ever be ready. If he doesnt declare this year, I cant imagine him getting above 20 nest year unless he gets a much better jumper. He is gettin in on 1 year hype and potential. If he stays in school and doesnt improve a lot, the hype will be gone and the potential will be more limited.

What's funny is that although he got some triple doubles this season, IMO he doesn't deserve the hype. I find it funny that Andre is getting hyped so much and Hassan Adams is not. IMO, Hassan is a better player, and has a much better "upside" than Andre.

Don't get me wrong, I like both guys, but I think both of them should do the smart thing and stay in school.

Adams is a finisher and an athlete and that's about it (right now, anyway). Even if he improves his jump shot, he's probably going to cause problems for his NBA team's offense when he's on the court; in today's NBA, you need to have several players who can distribute the ball on the court, most of the time.

I'm trying to think of somebody in the NBA who plays like Adams, and Ruben Patterson is the best I can come up with.

Iguodala is a smaller, more athletic Joe Johnson. Like Joe, his jumper looks good even though it doesn't go in very often. Also like Joe, the team that drafts Iguodala will probably have to wait for a few years before he blossoms.

Iguodala is obviously a much more complete player than Adams, though. That's why he'll be a lottery pick this year, and why Adams is staying in school.

Here's the thing. Igoudala is projected as lottery, Hakim Warrick, for example, is projected to be out of the lottery. Why? What makes Igoudala any better than Warrick?

EDIT:

Warrick leads Andre in virtually every statistical category except for Assists (2.5 to 5.1).

Andre REB: 8.8
Warrick REB: 9.0
Andre PPG: 12.7
Warrick PPG: 19.9
Andre FG%: .460
Warrick FG%: .519

Warrick is clearly a better player statistically.

Warrick is another guy who can't distrubute. He also has bad handles and doesn't project to fill either forward position very comfortably.

With Iguodala, you expect him to be able to play combo guard on offense and defend the opposing two (and maybe even the three on occasion). That's the kind of player that a lot of NBA teams need, because of the rise of the scoring point guard.

If Iggy could shoot, he'd probably go top five.

I like Warrick, and I'm wishy-washy on Iguodala. They are completely different players though. Warrick is a undersized power forward. Iguodala will end up a shooting guard in the NBA even though he may start by playing some small forward. It's like comparing apples and oranges. People are high on Iguodala because of his ballhandling and passing skills. That together with his athleticism and defensive skills will likely land him in the lottery even though he is a poor shooter.

Iguodala and Warrick. What a comparison.

And I don't know how you can say Warrick is better statistically when Iguodala double his assists and probably steals and blocks also.

Iguodala wasn't the main offensive guy on Arizona. He had to share with Adams, Stoudamire, Frye... Warrick only had to share with McNamara.

He also played in a VERY mediocre conference.

Obviously anyone taken at #7-#8 will be a risk. It's that kind of draft. My guess is that Iggy won't be a star, just a high energy defensive player who can handle the ball. I'm not sure that is a bad thing, but I can understand how people might think there could be a better choice.

Would you not consider Richard Jefferson a star or very close to that level?

Iguodala IMO will definately be better than Jefferson.

If we knew he'd for sure continue to improve his shot he would be a very good backcourt mate for JJ because they can share the PG duties because of Iguodalas very good passing and I think Iguodala is easily athletic enough to lock down even PGs.

Say we draft Iguodala at #6-8. Trade White and the Cavs pick to Charlotte

Our roster would be

Lampe/Voshkul
Amare
Marion/Zarko
Iguodala/Jacobsen
Johnson/Barbosa
IR: Eisley

~17M$ capspace.
2.5M$ for McDyess
1.5M$ for Vujanic
6M$-8M$ for a center like Dampier, Rasheed, Camby or Okur.

That would still leave us way under the cap to maybe make a trade that improves our talent by taking bigger contracts and trade a Voshkul or Jacobsen to a team that wants to free up some money.

Dampier/Lampe/Voshkul
Amare/McDyess
Marion/Zarko
Iguodala/Jacobsen
Johnson/Barbosa/Vujanic

I never had any doubt that Jefferson would be pretty good on offense. But I liked him because he was a great defender and athletic.

And Iguodala is not? Iguodala is probably just as good or better defender than Jefferson and definately more athletic.

6M$-8M$ for a center like Dampier, Rasheed, Camby or Okur.

Wallace can't play center in the west, and he'll get more money than that anyway. So will Dampier. Camby is an injury risk -- although the best option on that list -- and Okur just isn't very good.

Other than that, it's a great idea. ;)

This is just regurgitating the same stuff we went over a month and a half ago. (Not you Eric, the idea of signing Damp/Camby/Okur)

At this point I think the Suns are going to enter next season with much the same inside core as they have now except that White may gone. This means they will start Amare at PF, Dice at center, with Voskuhl backing up Dice and Lampe backing up both positions. Okafor would take minutes from Voskuhl while Dwight Howard or one of the Euros would sit.

I haven't seen much in the past couple of months that make me any more interested in the centers available this summer - at the prices they are asking. My favorite center FA prospect is Mark Blount and that's only because he may actually be affordable (under mid cap). No one is an impact player worth giving up a lot of cap space for. It's very frustrating.

I don't think the Phoenix Suns will have any interest in Eric Dampier, especially at the money he is going to expect. Marcus Camby may interest them, but his injury problems will scare them off. I doubt they make any sort of run at him. They might like Okur, but I don't think they're about to give him a big contract.

I'm just not sure what is going to happen for the Phoenix Suns at Center. I suspect they will probably draft someone who can play some minutes there. I just hope Jake Voskuhl is a third stringer by next season.

My guess is that the Suns will add a center one way or the other. If they don't draft one, they'll bring in a FA.

I still think that Okur is head and shoulders above the other FA centers, because of his age and potential. Joe Dumars will almost certainly keep him over Rasheed Wallace if he has to choose, though.

The Pistons could be really close to getting to the finals with this squad. Sheed is a very good defensive player and Okur is no where close. Okur may be a top player SOMEDAY, but letting Sheed go could look really bad over the next couple of years.
