Many of you thought I was a huge fanatic of a player on the decline, but Shaq has been the most consistent Suns player this season and is putting up stats he was doing 5 or so years ago. Look at these...

30.1 MPG, .587 FG%, .627 FT%, 9.00 RB, 17.4 PPG

Only slightly less impressed than I am by your prodigious ability to start threads.

Dude give him a break, its a good thread.

Shaq's a beast. If he can stay healthy and if we play defense we can win it all. The second if is huge.

How can you not be impressed? Shaq is playing some good ball right now. Better the most centers in the NBA. Period.

Gotta give him his due, he's playing very well and looks spry for 36 years old. Hope he stays healthy for the rest of the year, as the suns interior defense without shaq is much worse with diaw gone.

When I see Shaq playing at a high level, I still have to do a reality check. It's hard to fathom the Suns have a high quality big man at center after all these years... let alone a center that has been involved in winning Championships.

It's still hard for me to believe Shaq is playing for the Suns.

I don't fault the Suns though. We were giving up more points from the SG spot then any spot on the floor (one of the worst rates in the NBA). That has drastically improved since JRich joined. In return, we lost depth at the PF/C spots when Diaw was in there. There is definitely a drop off when Shaq & Amare go to the bench because he would play C/PF.

I would almost rather this team go after a big man at the last minute then a backup PG. Especially, seeing how Barbosa is playing as of late.

I agree about the Suns needing another big man but the need at PG is critical. LB having a great scoring game just reaffirms to me, he is a very nice SG.

However, if the Suns don't further address the PG problem I would like another big man. :D

I don't really think it's that critical. We use Barbosa and use a Point Foward approach with Grant and sometimes JRich. Honestly, if we don't win a title it's not because we don't have a legit backup PG. It's going to be because we can't defend (especially from the the paint).

It would be nice I admit to finally have a legit backup PG. Can we get both? :D

I've seen this scenario played out now going into five straight seasons. Nash gets pounded and ground to a pulp in the playoffs. Then he is played too many minutes until he becomes ineffective because of fatigue. The opposing team knows the Suns do not have a backup PG so this is their strategy. The Suns look to the bench... nada except for a shooting guard (LB) trying to do his best impersonation of a PG. That's what will happen again in the playoffs.

It doesn't work. Someone please someone tell Kerr. It's not conjecture, it's fact.

Shaq is awesome. Totally blew my expectations away. He's definately getting my vote for the All-Stars (most realistically he'll be reserve behind Yao). Now I'm starting think Kerr is a genius...

False. There are multiple threads discussing the same thing, and I have yet to see discussion about how he isn't delivering what is expected. When the board unanimously agrees that Shaq is playing impressively this season, creating a thread asking "are you impressed by shaq" is considered a "bad thread"

Sorry but disagree with you here. First off nobody on this board unanimously agrees on anything....period. If that was a criteria for starting a thread..this board would have none. The very existence of this board is based on discussions. Second, every player on this team does things well and other things they don't. There is no such thing as a player on this team with the "complete" package so that's not a criteria either.

So asking opinions of those on the board if we are impressed with Shaq is a great question. So, far the consensus seems to be yes amungst fans and the media alike. Shaq is playing great.

right... because there's NEVER multiple threads about the same exact thing on a message board. Geez, who made you king of internet? I hope this post doesn't send you into another of your rages where you lament the "lack of respect given to that you've earned here".

andrew, to answer your question... I'm not just impressed. I'm BLOWN AWAY. Dude's right now playing at the same level he did when he first got to Miami... and there he was the first runner up to the MVP... so, yeah, BLOWN AWAY.

I am shocked...I have gone from hating him and the slow down, to knowing he is not only the most important player on our team, but the best. He also understands that the Suns are giving away games left and right, and that is an issue that needs to be corrected.

In stark contrast these days, I always had great expectations about Amare and the player he would become. I am less and less confident every game of this. His quote after the latest game is particularly troubling:

""I play tenacious defense. I'm all over the place, helping and trying to block shots. Sometimes, I get myself into foul trouble just trying to be physical. I just need to learn from that."

Paul Coro followed this up by commenting "Maybe he was talking about how he plays Tenacious D, Jack Black's band."

No, you get in foul trouble because you are ALWAYS out of position. Watching last night's game, time after time Amare was out of position and burned for easy buckets/rebounds.

I made 2 points with my post:

Disagree with jagu saying this was a "good thread"
Note that I've yet to see someone say Shaq is not playing well or that they are unimpressed.

You used consensus, I used unanimous, but everything else is the same in our opinion. Once someone voices their disgust for Shaq's game this year, I will undoubtedly recant and rephrase my statement.

Note that I never, ever commented on him being the complete package. I really dont know where that came from and why its in quotes. I also never dictated any criteria for thread starting. I admire the fact that this board has differing opinions. When Andrew makes yet another thread about Shaq, after admitting one of his priorities is padding his post count (which I dont get at all) which is just a piggy-back of another discussion on the front page, I'm going to go out on a limb and not put it in the "good thread" category. Is that so odd?

right... because there's NEVER multiple threads about the same exact thing on a message board. Geez, who made you king of internet? I hope this post doesn't send you into another of your rages where you lament the "lack of respect given to that you've earned here".

I never claimed to be king of the internet, all I did was was disagree that this would be in the "good thread" category. I didnt even start the rating, I was 3rd to arrive. I also never claimed that there have never been multiple threads. I wont say if they were all good or bad, but im pretty sure some of those would be considered bad threads too.

Please tell me where I lamented about lack of respect I earned here. I am truly quite puzzled at this accusation. I really don't know where it came from or why you decided to put it in quotes. I'll buy you lunch if you can connect me to that quote, or any rants of tenured respect for that matter.

Did either of you actually disagree with anything I said, or did you just want to accuse me of spin offs of my comments? These posts are quite abrasive for two people I agree with quite often. I sense some passive agressive tendencies here, and welcome you to be open with what you're truly quarreling with.

I had to explain myself, I only post when I feel I positively contribute to the forum, or because I feel another's post warrants a comeback lol
