Man this is the NFL. If that comment has an iota of impact on the players mentality it’s ridiculous. You don’t think the players already KNOW what BA is saying is true? They just woke up one morning and read Arians comments and thought, “wow, I hadn’t thought of that! These coaches must suck!?!” Cmon . . . I think your reaction is typical of the rose-colored cardinals apologists who will defend anything and all things cardinals even in the face of obvious reality. What BA said is not news to anyone. Least of all the players themselves.

I agree with the bolded. I'm one of the most optimistic guys there is when it comes to the Cards but even I realize they suck right now. I think McCoy was a terrible hire & I'm having doubts about Wilks. I think he is in over his head. He may settle down & become a good coach but I have my doubts. They need to use DJ more in the passing game & split him out wide instead of just having him run routes out of the backfield. He's a better route runner than everyone not named Fitz but they aren't taking advantage of it.

I mean, not to double down on you, but there is literally no better individual to comment on DJ’s usage than the man who got the best outta him. No one. Not even DJ.

I don't think what you've stated about what BA said is untrue Ouchie, And its not a super-big deal, and I'm not trying to overstate the impact of his comments.

I'm just saying that it was bad form for BA (whom I still like, and still respect), and that he should have "taken the fifth" (I know that's not a perfect fit) when asked about DJ. It was an error in judgement, though not an egregious one.

Also, I don't appreciate the "rose colored" comment, but I've gotten after you a few times, so I'll take my medicine in this instance.

Warning: pure speculation

When BA announced retirement, I kind of expected a "HC emeritus" position -- where BA would drop in from time to time. Its been nothing like that at all.

After BA left, I sensed (imagined?) some tension between him and Mike B, Steve K. Maybe it was because they passed on Arians reco for HC and retained only a fraction of BAs staff.

I wonder if, for example, pressure to replace an Amos Jones led to some strained relationships toward the end here.

I really think that if BA were still close to the Cardinals front office / ownership -- he wouldn't have piled on the new coaching staff. The criticism is valid, and, coming from anyone else it would have been a "dog bites man" kinda story here --

but BA had to know the minute he said that -- it would be covered extensively here in the valley and only add to the pressure on the current staff and front office.

I thought the same thing. I believe Keim and him had their rounds and BA said enough is enough and left.

What was Michael's mantra this off season? How he loved such an all business like coach.

From February:

“There’s a different vibe in there now,” Bidwill said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. “One of the things that is going happen is he is putting up some of his own words on the walls and things like that, that are inspirational to players and really reinforce the themes he has talked about at his press conference and with us individually.

“When you look at it, I think Coach Wilks has come in and he has hit the ground running. He is organized, he is efficient. He talks about accountability.”

Bidwill praised Wilks for his work to assemble a coaching staff, one that has not been formally announced other than the coordinators. Bidwill called it “a great staff.

“That staff all fits his personality,” he said. “Detailed, outcome-oriented — it’s been all business and I really like it.”

This entire quote is laughable at this point.

If DJ (or any other receiver for that matter) went more than 5 yards downfield Sammy Checkdown wouldn't have thrown them the ball anyway. So, what does it matter?

Nothing succeeds if you don't even try.

Watching Bengals vs Falcons. Vic Beasley went out and Bruce Arians made an interesting comment.

BA - "Next man up works for awhile, but it doesn't work on the 6th or 7th guy."

Trent Green - "you have experienced that"

BA - "I'm in the booth because of that."
